Can i play Phantom pain despite not playing any of the previous games?
Metal gear Solid V
yes
Is it standalone?
honestly you'll probably enjoy it more without lofty expectations like the plot actually going somewhere
You should play Peace Walker and GZ first
I have heard good things about Kojima so I at least expect the story to be decent.
lmao filtered
the ONLY way to enjoy MGSV is not having knowledge of prior games, because if you did you'd see it as the disappointment it is
Yes I played all the games previous games but had no idea what the story was about. It's a load of nonsense so just ignore it and enjoy the game
Kojima is a terrible writer. The stories are the worst part of all his games.
wrong
Then how come death stranding got such a positive reception despite literal shit being your weapon at the beginning of the story?
no but the story is retarded anyway so who cares
This was me, I went in completely blind and zero hype and ended up having a very nice time with the game. Put in about 150 hours and I still go back every now and then to scratch my operator itch, that 3rd person gameplay is just unrivaled.
To this day I don't know what the game is even about.
Yes. You will be less dissapointed.
Pro tip. If you find wolf puppy or Sniper slut, don't take them with you back to motherbase.
don't be retarded
Kojimbo and Snoy bonus combined.
yes.
the story is shit anyways
>pros
-good gameplay
-good graphics
-nice cinematics
>cons
-novelty of open world wears off after just a couple of hours
-fast traveling via helicopter so encumbering that you almost want to manually travel to destination in spite of it
-kojimas ruse (aka completely devoid of a coherent story/plot)
-side missions fucking suck
If you can push through all the cons I think you’ll have a good experience. Decent game. Not 10/10 but it’s good enough that I put at least 80hrs in.
I think it actually improves the experience since you won’t care about Kojima’s retarded ““plot”” and hence you won’t be disappointed when you realize of course it sucks.
Gameplay is fun. Mod out motherbose and development forced timers, though. They are worthless padding disguised as another of Kojima’s “deep” and “meaningful” mechanics.
>not using d wolf
Because you drones would eat literal shit if Kojimbo put his 20
>a Hideo Kojima’s Hideo Kojima canned Hideo Kojima’s shit. By Hideo Kojima.
On the can
large protip for actually enjoying the fucking game:
use shit other than tranq weapons
that's all
ITT: Helicopter kinos
Yeah, I also went in without knowing anything about the plot and had a good time with it. Can’t understand what they’re saying in the scenes though.
>d wolf
get back on the boat
Yes but get some basic background on MGS3 and peacewalker.
MGSV has a built-in lore run-througher in it.
Also play ground zeroes. it's important. TPP won't make much sense without it.
You need to unretard yourself
Bump
Is the general consesus that you should skip Portable Ops? Doesnt it have important story stuff?
Which is the best game from I-V?
just play Far Cry 3 or more recent ones
>Doesnt it have important story stuff?
I guess I can't speak too authoritatively since I've never played it, but going right into peace walker and beyond I never felt like there was anything I was missing.
>slowly sneaking through enemy base
>make a mistake and get spotted
>rush to the guard and judo throw him before he can raise the alarm
>before he can hit the ground though, Quiet fucking headshots him
>she then proceeds to snipe the entire enemy base
>mfw it was supposed to be a ghost run
I dont think its anything huge but I think I heard somewhere that its where boss meets grey wolf. Idk, its easy enough to get on psp so I'll probably try it after 3
Yes, but Peace Walker is a very good precursor game to play.
Beat the MSX metal gear games this week and they were actually both really fun. I stuck close to a walkthrough because of how obtuse they were, but I enjoyed the combat and bosses a lot, and even if it was minimal the story and its connections to the solid games is cool. It is gay as hell that kojima didnt come up with the idea for snake to be boss's son until solid, but just pretended he put it in two anyways though
>I think I heard somewhere that its where boss meets grey wolf
Oh, I guess there was that. I'll give a big hint as to how it figures into the rest of the story if you want though.
it fucking doesn't lol
Yeah I kinda figured lol, idk I figure I should enjoy every entry in the metal gear series I can, since its probably never coming back.
