What's the agreed upon Soul Level for Black Souls 1? I'm already at 43 and the game still rapes me.

Go as high as you can while also not neglecting your summons' levels, especially Leaf who has very good buffs. Don't grind, just explore and remember to use all the soul items you find while exploring.

If you know what you are doing you can clear it at very low levels
Otherwise 60-70 is for the end game
For those who don't know the new game by the author of Embric of Wulfhammer's Castle was released, it's a full fledged rpg, really fun

Whoever it was who trashed Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass here on Zig Forums, fuck you, it's an amazing game. It's the rare example of a simple story told in a complex way that actually works out, it's full of well-realized characters and amazing imagery, and the combat system has enough customization to keep you interested. It strikes a great balance between whimsy and nightmare, and the purposefully-childish symbolism only strengthens the core story elements.
Play this game. It is by no means a perfect game but it's the best RPGMaker game I've played, ever.

Seraphic Blue is good from a gameplay standpoint
It is incredibly pretentious and mopey though, if you're nostalgic for early 2000's edginess I would strongly recommend it

How the game works is every time you beat it you get some points to spend on a bonus shop for your next playthrough. you can use this shop to keep all your levels and armor, as well as stat bonuses
There are achievements in the game too that let you get even more points to spend. All of this leads to a cycle where you speedrun NG+ loops in less than an hour to continuously break the game and eventually solo the final boss with no party members

I mean, it is infamous for having stupid long cutscenes for an RPGmaker game, and by cutscenes I mean characters talking at each other. but the gameplay is really solid for an RPGmaker game in spite of that
It takes about an actual hour for you to get to actual gameplay from starting a new game
