Isometric shit looks ugly and obscures detail. You'd have some correctness of you said "empty maps" for the Gaiden inspired maps, but all the SNES FE games were fucking great.

The maps aren't that fun unless you haven't played a single other FE. They're all just bog standard maps. I can't think of anything that stood out, besides that map where you need to kill the death knight I guess but that's more because he's strong as hell than anything else.
