Is a Switch Lite worth buying?

I've been looking to buy a Switch but don't wanna spend $400 on a regular one cause I can't find them anywhere except marked up online by $100+. However there's a couple Switch Lites pretty consistently in stock at the Target near my house.

Should I pick one up?

If I were to buy a switch again I'd probably get the light. I don't really like using it on my TV. Besides that, keep checking Target every morning. Sometimes they get a local delivery. You have to be quick though, they sell out on the same day.

Well do you need one? Are there any games that you want to play only handheld?

>it's a switch but worse at everything
fuck no just wait for the normal switches to be back in stock unless you absolutely NEED to have any kind of switch right now for whatever reason

Is the switch like easy to hack or so I still need engineering skills?

I mean I use my 3ds all the time still and don't particularly mind it only being handheld, but idk if all else is pretty much the same as a normal switch.

Aside from handheld are there any inherent advantages to the regular as opposed to the lite?

haven't kept up with the news. as far as i know old models are fairly easy maybe depends on the firmware. there's modchip for newer models that requires some basic soldering skills

>better battery
>detachable controllers
>kickstand so you don't have to keep it in your hands to play it
>larger screen
>you aren't limited to handheld performance

enjoy your drift and no pro controller

Easy as fuck to hack if you have the older models. New ones and lite can't be hacked without a mod chip.

No. Use Yuzu. Switch emulation came a long way.

?

No, the Switch itself is a questionable purchase because of the features of the console and lackluster library, but the Lite is an absolute terrible choice if you get stuck with one.

Most games in handheld mode run and look like shit, to the point they may be unplayable (im talking res scaling that makes you think you have eye problems) and VARIOUS performance issues.

That, and the build quality + drifting, I feel bad for dummies that got the Lite. It's the self-scratching 3DS all over again.

no one is going to subscribe to your patreon, fuck off advertiser

>self scratching 3ds all over again?

What's that mean

No one is going to buy your shitty hardware, fuck off advertiser

Early 3DS models would scratch their own screens when you closed them and it took them several years to fix it.

100% worth it but you should get grips of some kind. Look up Skull & Co.

If you're going to just play handheld, there's no reason to get the normal Switch. It's also better designed and feels like a proper portable console. Ignore the coping by people that got the normal and have buyers remorse because they wasted $100.

The Switch in portable mode actually strains your eyesight, enjoy being blind kiddo

How is the homebrew scene doing on the Switch these days? I was thinking of picking up a Lite as a dedicated emulator machine if development is far enough along.

You aren't hacking a Switch unless you have an OG that came out within a year of initial release.

Even if you're on a budget I would suggest just waiting until you can find a normal one for cheap. Some games look like garbage in handheld mode and I think joycon drift is still a thing on the Switch Lite.

>Most games in handheld mode run and look like shit
Plenty of them actually run better and look sharper in handheld since they're targetting a lower resolution at a significantly smaller screen size.

>be master race
>demand the best performance, pay top dollar for max fps
>standards suddenly lower to justify playing WIP emulators with constant graphical glitches, increased input lag and random crashes

> I can't read lol

If you only want to play on a handheld? Sure. But still kinda dumb honestly. Hybrid is way superior. 1080p is a huge difference from 720p and a lot of the games are still meant to be played with a real controller

I was able to get a switch Lite used for $100, I think at $200 it'd be worth it too. You'll definitely need a grip if you have normal hands tho, thing was not made comfortable.

Ahd the switch is just a wiiu but worst at wverithing

now this is cope

not until they fix the sticks desu
