What's the most realistic situation that will happen in the end of Scam citizen in a couple years?
Ok, let's say they finish a bare minimal product in 2022.
What will happen they release the 1.0 version and the game is utterly crap? (I mean the game is already crap, but they say is the released version).
I mean, they could simply say the commercial release is the basic prototype, and just keep the scam.
But at some point I keep thinking, they can't go for ever, right? At some point the whales must start to realize the game is a failure.
I mean, they already got 2 millions backers, and I'm sure a lot of them are whales. But the whales don't have infinite money. At some point the whales wont be able to spend more money.
they could declare it finished today and there would still be backers defending it saying one day future updates will bring them what theyve promised.
Nathan Foster
they dont need to keep going forever, just as long as possible to keep the sleazy workers paid and roberts into retirement
Brayden Mitchell
At some point the whales wont be able to be milked more user.
Dominic Miller
Saudi oil money never dries up
Jayden Gonzalez
how long until they cure your mental retardation?
Owen Cooper
Again, the whales can't be milked more at some point. It's a matter of time.
Charles Ortiz
It will never die. I check the star citizen reddit page whenever someone on Zig Forums reminds me that this “game” exists, and the people there are delusional. They will keep buying new jpegs for decades.
Joshua Lee
this is such a fucking meme
ive said this here before, but it will go subscription based. Just 39.99 dollars a month to support continued development! Thats the only way I can see it lasting at this point. Without this, it will last a couple more years at least, but eventually the money will dry up. Corona is also a gold-plated excuse for them, otherwise it would be bigger news.
Eli Clark
>how long The developers have already Crypto'd and Cayman'd. Just a matter of time before the buyhards catch wind.
Austin Clark
I think most of the backers will stop at some point, simply because most people (even americans) are middle class and they can't be milked for ever.
So, how much is their resistance. I've seen retards spending 45k, 50k, but I don't think they have infinite money.
Let's say these retards double and spend 80k, let's say they go 100k. I think most of those whales, have a limit on how much they can spent.
I mean, I would have to start wondering myself wtf I am doing after spending 40k. So, eventually each whale will meet their physical limit.
So the funds will eventually stop. It could last a couple years more, but it eventually hit peak donations and then the whale money will start to being lower.
Ryan Jackson
ultimately they will discover they've lost all that money because even IF they convince the authorities to get involved, its been spent into thin air. Literally money down the drain for a few devs to piss around and throw tech demos together.
And that fucking door lol. Ultimately it was a kickstarter and i expect almost zero regulation exists since it left kickstarter behind anyway. It reminds me of no mans sky, where before release, expectations of what was actually possible were insane. There were people unironically posting on some forums that no mans sky you could land on a procedurally generated planet and find a pc game to play that was generated procedurally.
Literally impossible promises made they can never hope to deliver on, thats why they are spinning in circles making tech demos and pissing money away.
Mason Long
>let's say they finish a bare minimal product in 2022. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA
Liam Hughes
i see it lasting 2-3 more years unless they come up with a new way to generate consistent funds. The stretch goals have literally promised the impossible and im sure CIG knows it.
Dont underestimate how much people will throw at them though. Think about the amount of money scientology pulls in, and video games are way more interesting than religion.
Cameron White
I know, I'm being very generous.
yeah, but again, I don't think most of the whales have infinite money, and I'm sure most of them eventually meet their limit. Could be his wife discovered how much money he spent, could be he lost his job, could be he realized the game is not worth to spend more money.
At some point each whale will hit their limit. At some point you'll simply have to realize you wasted a lot of money.
Again, the whales wont be able to provide more money. I'm not saying It wont last a couple years more.
But at some point, the whales will hit peak donations.
Dominic Fisher
>I think most of the backers will stop at some point, simply because most people (even americans) are middle class and they can't be milked for ever. i dunno bro. These people are even more determined not to be wrong since people like us are mocking them from the sidelines. >So, how much is their resistance. >I've seen retards spending 45k, 50k, but I don't think they have infinite money. >Let's say these retards double and spend 80k, let's say they go 100k. >I think most of those whales, have a limit on how much they can spent. They need to pull in many smaller amounts similar to games like war thunder or any free to play (lol) games. >I mean, I would have to start wondering myself wtf I am doing after spending 40k. >So, eventually each whale will meet their physical limit. >So the funds will eventually stop.
>It could last a couple years more, but it eventually hit peak donations and then the whale money will start to being lower. I think this is most likely, a sucker is born every minute, but as time goes on the hype is dying. I think a whole generation needs to pass though. And also, Im confused because i really dont think the demand for the game is even that huge. And more and more alternatives are available.
Easton Fisher
>I mean, I would have to start wondering myself wtf I am doing after spending 40k. You spend money on groceries every week, but you never think about how much you’ve spent so far. As long as they have stable income, they will keep donating. This project, in their minds, is the apex of video games. The one game that is finally doing everything. They believe that the only reason it hasn’t been done before is publishers and their greed. Roberts is the ultimate game developer who can achieve this. He isn’t taking money for himself, he’s doing a selfless service for the backers.
Brayden Perry
>wife now its my turn to laugh Its just sunk cost falalacy, by a bunch of nerds who think they are ssmarter than everreyone else.
Like ive said he has literally promised the impossible and im consistently amazed people believe he can do what hes saying with even the highest end supercomputers.
Bentley Wilson
old whales will lose faith and stop donating, new ones will gain it and start donating. It is the natural order of things.
Xavier Lewis
Again, is basic logic. At some point, even the most harcore fan will have to realizing he's spend 40k.
but even if his will is infinite. How much will his will last? 50k, 80k, 100k, 150k, 200k?
At some point your endurance will simply stop. Sure, you have millionaires, but I don't think all the 2 millions of his backers are millionaires.
At some point, the endurance of your money will have to stop.
200k, 300k, 400k, At some point It has to stop.
1 million, 2 millions, 3 millions.
Every whale will have a limit on how much money they can't spend. Even millionaires don't have infinite money.
And I don't think he will gain any more substancial whales. Most of the people interested in this shit are already being a whale.
But at some point the money will stop flowing. Could be 2-5 five years. Could be 8 years.
The whales will stop donating money, because of mere physical limits.
Owen Rodriguez
Have you hit your limit on grocery spending? Donating to this project is like crack to them at this point. It’s not even about the game anymore. Being a whale gives them status, it makes them feel like an important person in a community.
Kayden Myers
about 3
Logan Sanchez
Again, is mere logic.
Every whale has a physical limit.
And for every whale that meets their physical limit, another whale has to pick up their place and spend more.
Even millionaires have a limit, you could argue their limit is a couple millions. But even then they will meet their limit.
Blake Hughes
I am sorry, I just cannot see things your way. I am 100% sure that they will never stop donating.
Regardless of the outcome, it will be interesting to watch what happens in the upcoming decade.
John Brooks
I've made basic math.
At current development speed, and keeping his original promise of 100 star systems. To be feasible in 8-10 years. And making every system unique, and not just a repetition of the same reused assets on 100 diferent systems. And knowing the faggot is so perfectionists his goal is to hand craft the systems, because making procedural, I'm 100% fucking sure he wont settle for a procedural solution.
This faggot would need at least 10k or from my calculations, closer to 40k employees to make his original goal of 100 star systems, like his original perfectionists vision of how he dream the game to be.
Just to be able to finish it on 8-10 years from now. He would need 200 million dollars PER MONTH. Eventually his entire idea, as he dreams, will cost 24 Billion dollars.
So he wont fullfill his original vision, It's impossible.
You could argue his goal is 10 systems, instead. He spend 8 years on a single system.
So basic math means 80 years more of development, for just 1/10 of his original pitch.
Again, the whales don't have 80 years more of will to donate.
Benjamin Butler
Let's review the situation -- >future video game >games usually cost $60 >this game dev is a smart ass >his business model is to tease the video game and charge money before the game is released >"we are in pre-alpha, give us more money" >"we are in alpha, give us more money" >"we just created a new a new skin, give us more money" >"we just created a new sound effect, give us more money" >"we are almost about to release alpha 0.001b, give us more money" >"for $1000, we will name a ship after your dog, send money now" >and morons actually send hundreds and thousands of dollars >for a $60 game >that, like all games, you will grow bored with before the next great game catches your attention >but you spent thousands on a video game >so now you are angry at the dev >for being smarter than you >and separating you from your money
The devs did nothing wrong. People are just suckers. It makes no sense to spend so much money on a video game when video games come and go, new and more robust hardware is released almost every 18 months, and game devs will look to create games to take advantage of new high-tech hardware.
tl;dr - spend $60 on a video game if you must, but never spend more than that because you will inevitably grow bored with that game and move on to a newer game that is made for newer hardware. It's your own fault for falling for developer scams to convince you to spend 10x as much as you should.
Nathan Anderson
The backers think this game will let them do everything, so they don’t plan to play another game, ever.
Dylan Lewis
Basically they will be forced at some point to fold the company, and I expect it will be sold to a publisher. Mandalores video makes a lot of sense on it.
It will kill Roberts to go to investors or publishers, but ultimately he will, and the game will come out far later than expected with about 2 percent of the promised features. Backers will claim victory and day the games been released and everything else will be free dlc, but it won't happen.
Grayson Mitchell
Reminds me of how people get scammed out of game-money on eve online and complain to the devs about it.
Caleb Green
Which publisher will buy them, though? They haven’t achieved anything, they have too many employees, They are a complete liability.
Ayden Williams
the game will be a huge, huge, dissapointment.
He promised something impossible (I've calculated his promise to cost 24 billion dollars to be made).
So, at some point this shit will crash and burns. Because the retard has made so much promises, he will eventually end up in jail.
This faggot eventually will spend a few years in jail.
Daniel Foster
>log on to star citizen (circa 2123). >move my character to my high end gaming pc >play a few hours of death stranding What a time to be alive.
Jason Edwards
Someone enormous like Microsoft, they bought freelancer off Roberts after all. Or it will be sold as parts/assets/tech for other games.
But the game originally promised, its never coming.
Chase Lewis
You joke about this, but I actually saw a reddit post some time ago where some guy thought it would be great if in-game computers have video games in them.
Ryder Long
Did he not already use investors and loans using parts of the games as collateral?
Yeah, but people earn more money over time, no one has a fixed amount of money they can't spend in their life and that is it, people have monthly incomes.
Lets say a person makes 100k a year, he could spend 10k on SC this year, 10k on the next and so on, feeding it forever, as long as the delusion lasts.
Oliver James
STARTHUR! Miss Simpshaw tells me you haven't been putting any money into the backer box.
Do you seriously thinks any big company wants his shitty project?
They will do the same as microsoft did with freelancers, tell robert to fuck off and try to savage what they can, and release in 2 years (because they will try to save what they can) and the finished game will be a huge dissapointment to the whales.
This shit will eventually end up with lawsuits.
It's not that. What he promissed and what the whales dream the game eventually is, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE.
UNLESS YOU HAVE A STUDIO OF 40K WORKERS, WORKING FOR 8 YEARS.
So, is impossible to be made just with 500 employees.
Jayden Phillips
>Star Citizen development will cost 10% of the actual, literal Apollo program
