Did anyone else know nothing about skateboarding and just pick characters based on how cool they look? I still know nothing about these people actually. I probably should learn a bit but outside of these games I've never really cared about skateboarding, which I guess speaks to how fun the games are that I like them despite that.

I have a soft spot for American Wasteland for having a story.

If you want to you can look up Rodney Mullen, dude's basically the God of Skateboarding and has invented 90 percent of the tricks you see.

tbf THPS 1 didn't have manuals and considering half of Mullen tricks are based of manuals, I kinda understand.

He actually wasn't in THPS1 (I only realized this recently) But it seemed to be consistent throughout every game he was in. haha

Played a shit ton of Pro Skater games for the PS1 back in the day but never played any skating games throughout my teens and adulthood. Picked up Skate 3 around 7 years ago and there's just no way i can go back to playing those button mashing Pro Skater games. Skating games have been perfected and I prefer moving forward.

They're not as arcade-y as the Tony Hawk games (which made them great imo).

I like Skate 3 but they're too janky for my taste

Instead of mashing butting, you use the analog stick to precisely do the techniques you pull off. It gives you more control and it makes you feel like your actually skating. Plus it's a glitchy game which allows you to do even more cool shit.
