They've absolutely had years where E3 was a wasteland. If I had to hazard a guess their plan if things didn't go FUBAR was to show off origami king, probably some smash news, basically that entire third party mini they had a few weeks ago and probably either some big upcoming games they haven't announced yet since they love holding shit close to their chest until it's good to go and are thankful they can play it a bit closer due to the pandemic, or just more desperate teasers for things like bayo 3/BOTW2 that are still eons away.

You forget one year Nintendo's e3 was literally talking about just one game. Origami King and Min Min would have been the extent of their e3 this year.

e3 would have been early june and the game didn't come out until mid july. I guess you could say that's pushing it close but considering they didn't reveal it until mid may anyway I can see them holding it for just a bit longer if things had worked out differently.

Animal crossing probably pushed at least 5 mil units in the spring and they just released a new paper Mario with about 60 days notice. If they literally didn't release another game this year (which you'd have to be retarded to believe) then I'd call the year a loss. Why are you so angry anyway user? Don't you have other games to play?

That's the norm for Playstation, and what most people buy a Sony console for. Most people buy a Nintendo console for Nintendo content.
If you're referring to 2016, that was when the WiiU was extremely dead and Nintendo made it clear even beforehand that they were giving up on the platform. Having a comparable show for a console that's selling like hotcakes at its supposed halfway point in its lifespan is completely fucking awful.

Yeah 2015, 2016, and 2018 E3s were pretty scarce. They lucked out with BotW being revealed as an immersive sim blowing people’s minds. That being said I think their E3 this year would look more like

I'm too preocupied with playing Smash online, improving my island in Animal Crossing, playing some indies... idk man it'ill happen when it happens.

And before you start, no, I have zero problems playing smash online, it's amazing. I only get 3 stock 7 min, rarely get a lagged match, which i just finish and don't rematch.

Doubt we'd have gotten the other smash character with how slow pass two has been. Fully don't expect that until winter at this point.

I've unironically played more backgammon and spider solitaire this year than anything else except maybe new horizons (which I burned out on like two months in, that shit always happens with animal crossing though I dont' know why I keep buying them)

There was really never an excuse, PC, Xbox and Sony all put together long presentation and other companies are doing their own digital events too. Nintendo pretty much has their fanbase brainwashed to defend everything they do though. Nintendo is the company that specializes in putting together digital events so corona should have affected their ability to announce games the least but now they're the only ones that can't announce shit.

Nintendo announced ahead of time that they would only be showing Breath of the Wild at that E3, they didn't do that this time.

Smash online is not amazing. You only think so because you either don't know better or you want to be contrarian. The game feels like shit to play online because it adds, in the very best conditions, an additional 5 frames of input lag. That means playing Smash Ultimate online gives the game at minimum 12 fucking frames of input lag. That shouldn't be acceptable for any modern video game.
