Is it better than enemy within?

I haven't played enemy within much, but war of the chosen is fun.
It was as good, imo.
More difficult? Yes. More fun? No.
Perhaps not, but it's also hard to go back to enemy within after playing it with mods
xcom2 lacks this youtube.com
so no
If the QoL improvements of xcom2 could be transferred back to Enemy Within, there would be no reason for xcom2's existence. Everything else is a downgrade.
X1 has better story and strategic depth, but WOTC has a lot more content and mods. Also, WOTC early game is not as RNG heavy as EW, but the mid and late game difficulty is outright braindead even on legend.
Unmodded I'd say EW is better overall, just feels more coherend, and like an actual tactics game, unlike rpg mess of WOTC
uhhh, user, you do know that with the tactical legacy pack dlc you can switch over to the old soundtrack right? theres even a remake of the original UFO Defense soundtrack included.
Enemy Within was better for a number of reasons, but WotC is still very good, especially with mods that take advantage of all the new things it opened up like 5-way battles.
It's just hard to top that first base defense mission, EXALT, and MECs all presented in one coherent package.
Not more fun but still enjoyable, very enjoyable
Unmodded EW is better than WotC imo.
Mods give the latter more of a boost than they do to EW but I‘d say modded EW is still better than modded X2.
It just feels like everything in X2 was already on the way to devolving towards that Chimera Squad garbage. It had some real improvements, sure, but it went too absurd with some things for my taste.
WoTC is just too ADHD for it to be as good as EW.
It is still good though, just not as much as EW
How do you autists enjoy Long War, like damn
I can't take the pressure of a Xcom campaign but 50 hours long and you can just get into an inevitable snowball of defeat at anytime. At least you only lose like 15 hours of your life if you fuck up a normal campaign.
Yes, though I don't like the lost or the tier 2/3 armor. All of that can be modded though, which is the main advantage of X2, and everything else is a big step up.
Long war is peak autism but there is just so much polish. It has both more stuff AND the stuff is well balanced, when 99% of the time in vidya it's either one or the other. The challenge was addicting, I poured so many hours and failed campaigns in just to finish it one time.
I clocked around 1000 hours of Xcom, most of that WOTC, so I guess I really enjoyed this game
I‘m pretty sure they added in a second wave option that shortens Long War, if you can‘t stand the autism of a dozen missions per month.
WOTC is awesome.
I prefer 2 mechanically, but I swear it does this fucking bullshit where ai can check rolls. They literally NEVER fire and miss unless there's no other alternative.
Their accuracy increases the better you're doing. Ironically iirc this disappears on the highest difficulty setting.
What I hate is how almost every hit they get manages to crit.
After you've played the shit out of the normal game you really start to notice how easy it is to fuck with the game and make most missions cakewalk after a certain point. Long war just gives you more to do and ways to do it if you can wrap your head around keeping track of more than three or four things at once like the base game. Compounded with other mods to add bells and whistles where you think the game could use them adds a crazy amount of replayability to the game. Its to the point that I still haven't really touched wotc that much because long war wasn't getting ported for a while and hearing that they're working on it only makes me want to wait longer to get back into it though I haven't checked the progress in a long time.
Your guys loose too much stamina in WotC that it's fucking nuts
They must be able to check rolls. I've seen the ai make completely fucking irrational moves to crit my dudes.
mod the ini to remove fatigue and the game becomes much more fun
unmodded ew is a little better than unmodded wotc but both are fine
modded wotc can be more fun than ew just because of the sheer variety
long war 1 > long war 2, not sure where lwotc sits yet
I honestly don‘t like Long War 2. Whereas the original Long War added layers onto the base game and integrated everything perfectly, LW2 feels like a complete conversion of X2 to me. I haven‘t checked it out in years but I remember intensely disliking the experience, which stuck in my brain since I‘d recommend LW for EW in a heartbeat.
There is a ton more to do but the difficulty curb is cranked way up in both directions in WotC. Early game is a lot harder with a lot more things to keep track of. But as you progress into midgame you'll find that you have access to a lot of almost free permanent upgrades for soldiers and some busted skills with the faction units. You can somewhat predict when a chosen will show up and while they can be a real bitch once you figure out their quirks they get a lot less intimidating. Warlock in particular has to right to talk as much shit as he does.
I'm starting to get cocky because more of my guys are dying each mission.
>What I hate is how almost every hit they get manages to crit.
That's because of how crit rolls work. If it's 30% to hit and 15% to crit then it's actually 50% to crit.
I found it shallow and pedantic.
Hmmm, yes. Shallow and pedantic.
