Last Thread: Hi Anons, what a turnout! For those who didn't see nor know, I was the organizer for Super Mario Zig Forumsorld, a Super Mario World Collaboration hack with levels by your fellow Anons. We are now starting production on the on the sequel, Super Mario Zig Forumsorld 2! Like last time, you will have 31 threads to create and produce your content for the collab, and another month after for testing. Like last hack, this is a SA-1 powered SMW Hack (you can play on real hardware) that contains a baserom of a lot of custom assets to play around with incase you are not good at working with custom resources. Unlike last time however, we are not using the Sprites on Platform Patch.
New to this hack is an organied claim sheet. While it will be set to view only, please use the sheet to claim your resources, and comment in the threads with what you want and I will mark it down. As for submiting levels, you can either submit here in the daily threads or email me your levels at [email protected]. That is not the only thing new however, but I will discuss that in the post below. I can't wait to do this again, let's make something great!
Unlike Zig Forumsorld 1, for this hack we are planning to have all art resprited to fit Zig Forums // Zig Forums memes and culture. This is much in the style of the VIP hacks, which were created on 2chan and had resprites of 2chan related memes. At this point, a few sprites are done. However, the player (Moot) is entirely done! As that is probably the biggest challenge finished, we now need help finishing the remaining enemies off. There are a few enemies done, but it's far from what we would need. The art claimsheet is not in read-only as the enemy resprites are not all decided yet either. I need all hands on deck to figure this out. We're counting on you, Anons!
For this hack, I am trying to push for more original ports. "Original Ports" are ports made for this hack. They can be from other games or brand new songs that you composed. Currently, we have a few custom ports in the current baserom. However, we still need ports for potential Storehouses, and Final Boss themes. There wil not be a claim sheet for music, but if you wish to create a track, post in the threads with a song number you want (dictated in the claim sheet) and I will mark you down!
This is going to be so sick when It's done user. Do you have other block types in mind?
Owen Sanders
right now, only the MOOT and COIN objects exist, but I plan on adding another type (probably SKULL).
there will be a lot more attributes though. STOP, OUCH!, SHIFT, LEFT, RIGHT, WIN and SECRET are planned. I don't want to overwhelm the player with too many different gimmicks though, so maybe SHIFT and SHIFT ACCESSORIES won't make the cut.
And obviously there will be words useless for rules, like STUPID, FAG, VIRGIN, CHAD or OP.

How's the romhack scene doing? I haven't paid attention to it since I stopped watching raocow like eight years ago.
Gabriel Howard
I think that's all pretty good. At the very least the bulk of the coding issues are out of the way now, so I can't wait to play this!
Juan Butler
raocow is still around playing hacks, even considered playing the first Zig Forumsorld. Sadly, beyond that, the scene has mostly shifted to twitch streamers and kaizo hacks, which is a real shame. Hopefully hacks like this are more of a "return to form"

>overwhelm Don't give in to fucking casuals

it's not about casuals, it' about not making an unfocused clusterfuck where the designer seemingly had 10 different ideas for a level and did them all at once.
Jayden Bailey
This looks great user, good luck to you. Anywhere we can follow the progress so we can download it once it's done?
Julian Sanchez
Good shit. Not gonna participate but I wish you luck.
Leo Perry
There'll be a release thread. You can follow progress by these threads, as that is where all development is
Than you for your support user!

> Like last hack, this is a SA-1 powered SMW Hack Can you explain how these hacks are made? is there a standard set of tools available or are things still done by ASM?
Anthony Mitchell
A majority is just a level editor honestly, with ASM pre-patched to the rom. You're free to also add your own custom ASM if you want too
John Nelson
What is the level editor called? Where do you go to get started with modding like this?
Level editor is Lunar Magic, if you download the baserom you'll instantly have it. To open it, drag the .smc file onto Lunar Magic, which'll open it. The best tutorials for it are on youtube honestly, but it's very intuitive to pick up and use

Another mario game? Why not something new? like a Zig Forums approved eroge or something?
Connor Carter
SMW is much more fun and easier to make than an eroge
Logan Wilson
Even with something like RPG maker? welp maybe the new rpg board does something like that in the future.
Anyways you reminded me that I still need to play the first game, what emu is the best for playing smw hacks?
Adrian Price
Best suggestion is SNES9x 1.60, I can link you it if you'd like

>If your level contains puzzles, use the Purple Doors as Reset Doors i was going to leave a suicide option in many places but reset doors might be a better idea
Nolan Anderson
move it to vg the fact is you have had over 15 threads because they keep dying, not "7" as you claim you keep spamming bump to keep it alive none of this belongs on Zig Forums there's no interest strong enough
Luis Flores
It depends how long the segment is, though I think reset doors would make people less angry about replaying than just a kill option.
Anthony Parker
So I kinda found out how the better Snake Blocks work but it's super confusing to the point that I'm not even sure if I want to make a level with it. There is a way to make them go up or down by using the left & right brown blocks but you cannot do it arbritrary unless you use the brown blocks that act different depending on the ON/OFF block state. Even then I'm not sure if it's possible to make it go in the direction I want it to go to because of how fucking confusing it is.
Thank you for your support user! I'm glad you could check out this thread whilst browsing Zig Forums. If you're curious about the other threads, you're free to track the progression of this hack through the "Last Thread" listing at the top of each thread. Hope that helps!
Ethan Young
bumping to spite you. faggot
Anthony Brooks
How important is the brown blocks to the progression of your level (or I suppose, what were your plans). You could always use the vanilla brown blocks like in My Level
Camden Nguyen
I'm mainly in the brainstorming phase right now. Haven't really worked on anything yet.
Angel Perry
aka it's a general which aren't allowed on Zig Forums
Christian Reyes
>Best suggestion is SNES9x 1.60, I can link you it if you'd like Unless latest build is gamebreaking I don't need that I guess.
Blake Gutierrez
In that case, maybe it'd be better to shift focus rather than deal with an unintuitive system or use vanilla brown blocks instead
Jordan Robinson
How does that thread trigger you though? Out of the garbage being posted here you picked that one where OC is being created and hate on it why?
Dominic Thompson
I'm confused what you mean exactly, shit like ZSNES can't run the game properly. I'm pretty sure any SNES9x version after 1.53 works, but the game was made on 1.60
This isn't a general, and I can tell you firsthand that the OC in this thread is miles better than anything you'd get in the 900th wojak thread of the day.
