So guys, I just bought the game.

I'd like to mod it because some skins looks really cool and some added classes too.

Will I ruin the game if I mod it straight or not ?

Maybe skins only ? QOL changes ?

Help me fellows.

I don't often mod games, probably because I have so many games that it's easier just to move to another. However, the advice I generally see on Zig Forums is that it's best to try the game without any mods first. It's probably best as you'll have an appreciation for the changes that the mods are making instead of not even knowing which aspects of the game were modded in.

>QOL changes ?
Depends. Faster walking/combat doesn't affect anything but there are "QOL" mods that alter the game, like increased item stacking which will make the game easier. Don't use any class mods for your first playthrough, they're almost always overpowered and will dilute the experience.

Yes that's a good idea. I'll wait to see in the "real" version of the game the elements I'd like to mod before really doing it.

Anyone who's played the game and modded it has an idea ?

If you ever get anime mods for this game you are an absolute shitter. The amount of mods that completely shaft the atmosphere and art style for the sake of muh qt waifu is absurd.

OP here, indeed I am afraid of changing the experience too much. I really like the skin changes and all but I don't want to alter the base game mechanics or difficulty.

Play it vanilla first.

Yeah I agree with the others. Post it vanilla your first go, and if you want to add some mods do it after. Also don't do the Crimson Court until you have a good understanding of the game, it adds a bunch of other problems you gotta deal with.
And remember, overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer

Nope, I was more thinking of skins that makes the game "look better" not skins that alters the base ART DIRECTION.

For example the Bloodborne Hunter that changes the Higwayman fits the cosmic gothic horror theme.

Get the 50% faster combat speed mod, the animations are soo slow.
Same for "faster walking".

Any extra classes mods would probably break the game balance wise, and if you remove it you'll have to restart from scratch.

Smart idea to post the playtime. It is helpfull to backup your argument.
Do I need to untag the DLCS on steam ?

there's no QOL/hero mod that is 100% balanced, all of them make the game easier
the only mods i approve with vanilla is reskins and faster animations

>Do I need to untag the DLCS on steam ?
No. When you start a new playthrough a menu with all the DLC pops up and you can toggle which ones you want on or off. Note that once enabled they're on for good. Most people will tell you to turn all DLC on except the one called the 'Courtyard,' the reason for that being that it is very intrusive and not newbie-friendly. It's a good idea to enable that after you've gotten used to the mechanics of the game.

Dont you start this...

OK got it. I'll be able to tag it later on I guess ?

There are a few pretty good/cool modded classes, but as already been said you should at least play through half+ the game without them.
>Marvin Seo's classes: Thrall, Sisters, Lamia, Wraith, Seraph, Falconer
>S-Purple's classes: Slayer, Bogatyr, Duchess, Cataphract, Omen Seeker
>Snake Charmer
>Itinerant Cook
>Mambo
>Steel Driver
>Exorcist
>Keeper
>Thorn
>Pit Fighter

>The problem with many of the mod classes is that they're all transformation based and creatively deficient.

Yes.

HEALER

Yeah, there's a few mods that are just reskins of existing classes.

Thank you mate.
What is the meaning of transfo based ?

Except for the Musketeer DLC, it's just a reskin of an existing class with worse trinkets.

In the base game there's one class that has a human and monster form, each with their own skills. A lot of modded classes use the transfomation gimmick of said class for their classes, making the whole thing a bit overused.

A character that shifts between states, with different abilites between them. Transforming costs an action though, in a game where the action economy is pretty scarce. The vanilla hero Abomination is pretty decently balanced around this, what with his self-heals and powerful melee form.

Ah yes, the Abomination.

Did they fix the stutter yet?

Also remember you can use supplies on heroes both in and outside of combat: Food heals for a couple of hp, Holy Water gives resistance, Antivenom cures blights and poisons and Medicinal Herbs remove debuffs. So if you got a dude starting their turn on Death's Door and you're not sure they'll make it to the next heal you can just click one food in the inventory and they'll gobble it up without costim them an action.

Never heard of nor experienced this so it sounds like a you problem.

I'd say play it vanilla for a bit, the game is really fucking good on its own. Though the class mods are made by really talented people and add so much more to the game so you should try them at some point. For QOL mods, the stacking quest item one, if you end up getting modded classes larger roster mod is good otherwise you don't get to enjoy a lot of the classes, the mod that takes away from getting the buzzing event from Crimson Court.

Thank you !

Play vanilla for a while, once you get a little annoyed or bored install QoL mods like faster darkest dungeon, UI enhancements and stacking inventory if you are a scrub like me

I'd say refund it while you still got time
