V3 repeats the formula for the second time. Same amount of cases, thematically similar X-1, X-2 etc. Very gimmicky murder methods. Linear progression on solving the trials because there's always a scrum debate in the middle.

First sucks a bit, Makoto Naegi is your basic anime teen without any personality and most of the characters aren't anything particular. And fuck Sakura.
Also it's just a basic "omg locked in the school" Battle Royale-esque.

Second is the real deal. What a fucking adventure. Epic, funny, a tragic emotional rollercoaster. And the characters in this one are so fucking insane and interesting.

One thing that stays constant throughout the whole series is Masafumi Takada.
Already loved his work on Killer7, but in the Dangan series, he shined like a star, the fucker.

The real truth is the whole franchise is shit. I'm convinced the end of V3 tried to tell it's fans they were retards and it still went over their heads.

I played 3 maybe a year after 1 and 2, and 2 was by far the most enjoyable of the series. V3 just feels like you're going through the motions without being able to get very invested since there's constantly meta shit going on in the background and the cast maybe has 2 or 3 genuinely good characters.
