The first game is a 7/10 but one that's got so much charm and novelty that I can't help but love it, which is probably why it's obtained cult status. The gravity mechanics made for an extremely fun movement system and while the story missions were kind of a mess thanks to the incoherent plot and dogshit combat there was a lot of stuff to do in the city itself. I ended up getting a Platinum for the game just because I had a lot of fun messing around with the races, time trials and character driven NPC sidequests, which is really where the game shined.
The sequel is frustrating as hell because it made almost no attempt to improve on the foundation, it just adds a lot of fluff to it. It was still satisfying to play when it first released since the online systems gave the community the opportunity to make endless content for it in the places Gravity Rush excels, but with the servers being taken down so quickly you're just left with a massive overworld with nothing to do in it and story missions that emphasize combat and stealth, neither of which are the games' strength.
