How long will the Switch continue being produced once the new consoles hit the market? (especially Lockhart & the all digital PS5) Will Nintendo be forced to cut the price of it from $300 to maybe $230?

You need to understand, Nintendo opted to merge it's home console and handheld this gen.

You have to stop thinking of the switch as a PS5/Series X competitor, it is not. It's a smartphone competitor, it's basically what the 4DS would've been, they will make more hardware revisions, but this is the system parents get their kids for christmas, where they used to get them a game boy/GBA/DS/3DS.

Neither of those will or never will have the first party games that people buy the switch for.

The Switch has sold more in its lifespan than the PS4 did in the same time, and Animal Crossing has outsold every PS4 exclusive in a matter of months.

Switch will do fine, Snoy and Mircosofts games are also on PC.

The Switch fills a niche that Sony and Microsoft aren't really offering at the moment. They're basically dominating the handheld market unopposed right now, so they'll never be really screwed because they've slotted themselves into a market where they're not really competing with anyone but themselves.

Considering how PS, xbox and PC share a fuckton of multiplats while the switch and almost every other nintendo device has its own set of excusives (plus downgraded ports), then the most logical choice is to move all of those to their own board and leave the other three to discuss the games they share with each other

people don't buy switch for graphics. it's literally all about the games and form factor. people buy xbox and PS for graphics, which is why we see even here a lot of people migrating to PC to get the best available graphics and framerates.

Consoles exist to be a mainstream alternative to PC gaming. PlayStation and Xbox games being on PC doesn't matter because the audience for consoles exist because they're not interested in PCs.

There is more room for growth in hanheld devices. Technology wise at least. It's a good 'niche' to be in really.

Switch Pro WILL save 3rd party support on the system. Even if the PS5/XSX games look lower-than-low settings, at least they'll actually run on a prospective Switch Pro. Current Switch can barely run something like Witcher 3 unless it drops resolution down so low you can barely see shit. Without a mid-cycle revision to the Switch, 3rd party support on current games will all but disappear. Not a good look for Nintendo.

I'd say around 2022 we'll get a Switch Pro, and it'll likely go by one of the following monikers:

No. All that extra power of these new consoles is going to be squandered on ray tracing, and in xbox's case, "4k 120fps". Switch will last until the end of the next generation easily.
