There are people who unironically think this is more comfortable than symmetrical analog sticks

>there are people who unironically think this is more comfortable than symmetrical analog sticks
Why?

why do microsoft keep doing it then?

They're about equal in comfort and I have ape gorilla obese burger hands

Because it's the only thing they used since they were a kid,
cough xbox 360 cough fucking fags killed gaming with online gaming.

It's a million times better.

Why? Please explain it to me. How is contorting your thumbs like that comfortable, let alone preferable?

Stuff like the DS4 is uncomfortable to people with larger hands or basically anyone who doesn't put their thumbs at a 45 degree angle since their thumbs will often touch eachother and be annoying as hell.

Do you not use the left stick for character movement?

I have long alien fingers and big hands and I have no idea what you're talking about. Lose some weight fatty.

it's such a minute difference, who the fuck actually cares where the left stick is placed?

Not him but I have giant hands and the PS controllers (or any symmetrical controllers) are infinitely better.

Microsoft are just absolutely retarded, the controller war ended years ago and symmetry won. They should just release both the 'traditional' and a new symmetrical controller. Its literally one of the biggest reasons people dont want to play Xbox, the controller is shit.

it has vastly superior analog stick rubber and triggers compared to dualshock

Because is.
Why do you think that every elite PS controller have assymetrical analog?

how do you get away with this type of stuff?

But why would you rest your thumb on the face buttons and not the right analog stick? This doesn't make any sense.

not the guy you replied to but only games i can think of that don't have you holding your right thumb on the analog stick is basicly platformers rpgs etc and far as i am concerned xbox has none of those outside of a few exceptions

Steam controller was kino with games like monster hunter and warframe
>b-b-but its good for platformers
name more than 5 2d platformers on the ps3 and ps4 that isn't a port. All the best indie 2d platformers are on Xbox

I have both a DS4 and an Xbone controller and the Xbox one is the only one I use now. It's just more comfortable and ergonomic since the stick sits exactly where your tumb rests so it's just better for longer play sessions. Also the DS4 at least compared to the DS3 feels like a bulky piece of shit. Seriously the PS3 controller was fine and weighs as much as a wiimote. Idk what Sony was thinking adding in so much useless gadgets to the DS4 it just feels unnecessarily bulky

because that position where thumb at its most relax/default position
why should you want to put on right stick all the times ?

>NNNOOO THATS REDDIT

am I the only one that uses index fingers for L2-R2/LT-RT, middle finger just feels weird and I rather just have it resting under the controller.

If it works it works. Both are fine shut up.

>Using the right thumbstick
Imagine revealing yourself to play shooters on a fucking console

No. But some games force you to press all the buttons all the time so you need the extra finger, ie DMC you're holding down R1 most of the time

i mean that's what i do, unless it requires me to use both.
Literally no one in their Right Mind Learned using the steam Controller without help from the internet unless they're so autistic they could make a guide for everyone else
>BUT MUH IMPERFECT STEAM CONTROLLER CONFIG OPTIONS THAT I COULD PICK

>Microsoft are just absolutely retarded, the controller war ended years ago and symmetry won.
This is absolute cope posting, literally every controller other than Sony's has adapated to the more egonomic model

I like symmetrical, but PS controllers have the sticks in the wrong spot
Wii U pro controller was peak controller design

>wii u controller
haha fag real funny any controller where the analog stick is the main thing you relax your thumb on is bad

>dem triggers
>dat dpad
imma coom

bone controller just feels better, dunno why

do you have weak fucking thumbs or something?

what i wanna know is why controllers don't have their "face buttons" on the backs where the triggers are. then you'd be able to use both sticks comfortably and still press special buttons without having to lift your thumbs off them. you'd actually be able to do crazy stuff like sprint and move your camera in dark souls!!!

So what you have to read forums on the steam controller to set it up. That literally not an argument. Unless your some room temp IQ retard that can't read or type "How to set up Steam Controller" on YouTube thats literally not an argument.

If so then how the fuck are you here?

post hands

No, but having your thumbs raised up is fucking retarded.

2k hours of rocket league and 1k hours of MHW on a DS4 here. Recently switched to Xboner controller. Never turning back, fuck your Sony bullshit.

The original S controller. Nothing has felt more solid since.

I never got to try this but the weight and the small details of the angles really matter.

patrician taste.

No dual shock was ever comfortable for me, and i grew up on ps2. the problem isn't the symmetry, its that the analog sticks are too far from the bumpers on top whatever they are called. combine this with the handles being small and you get colliding thumbs, or weird handling, or floating palms away from the handles. its just not humanly comfortable.
Xbox controller are just fucking large, they feel snug and nice to hold. your hand fits right on it no matter how large or small it is.

if you have to set up a controller it's not really a controller, it's a hacked up to shit laptop pad with the form of a controller.
>BUT MUH GAMES I CANNOT PLAY WITH A CONTROLLER
if you want to play rts stop being a autist and just play with a mouse and keyboard already.

Imagine the girls getting knotted

If I'm playing something that requires dual sticks I'm using a mouse and keyboard. That layout is ideal for non-fps action games and shit like that where the things you're actually using (the left stick and face buttons) are where your thumbs naturally rest on the controller.

Xbox is literally the perfect design. The left stick should be at the top since that's almost always the primary input in every game. The thumb being straight up is the most natural position for it. The right side and face buttons are identical between playstation and xbox so there's not even an argument there.
