I've been in a static for years and they never noticed. We played Wow, Wildstar, DayZ, Arma 2, PubG and a bunch of steam games and not a single person noticed.
That said, I never brought it up, redirected the topic and was lucky enough to to be with another Filipino. I never lied to them other than by omission, though one time they skirted close to realizing the truth was when they noticed my subpar ping (I always had the best internet money could buy and was an early fiber adopter.) and they never mentioned it again.
We never game anymore since they've all grown up now and had families much like myself. But we built some nice memories and we chat from time to time.
