Polygonal graphics all looked like complete ass back in the 90's, and everyone should have waited until the following generation to try to push for it. Instead, we had ugly games with even more dated gameplay, but it was acceptable back then because it was "the future", even though 2D games from that time period could STILL be released today and nobody would criticize them for being "outdated".
Polygonal graphics looked ugly even back then, and everybody knew that, but they kept deluding themselves that these visuals were anything good looking.
i love the poligonal artstyle, specially if they warp like in ps1, so good. FF9, mega man legends, soul calibur and mgs have to be my all time favorites
Blake Sullivan
PS1 and N64 low poly was definitely rough looking. Part of it was the artists though. For example, the Mario model in Mario 64 DS has less polys than the original and he looks more like Mario. I thought Starfox was neat back in 1993. Low poly 15fps and all
Hudson Brooks
Yeah, because the art form and technology were both in their infancy. That's how every new medium starts, it doesn't really come into its own fully until people stumble through all the mistakes first.
Bentley Parker
good image. KH3 is way too low poly and the lighting and shading is shit.
Bentley Stewart
I still think it's pretty impressive that i can play in something with that much gorgeous detail in real time
Parker Perez
There was absolutely no excuse for Nintendo to not port StarFox on the GameBoy Advance.
Benjamin Sanchez
You're a retard, they couldn't get to the right without the left. Thats like saying invent the car before the wheel
They could have just waited, instead of trying to jump the gun on hardware that wasn't even capable to begin with.
Mason Brown
>they could have built the motor, body, all computer tech, before the thing that makes it even move
Reread what I said
Mason Flores
Yes and it was kino
James Barnes
low IQ
Carter Jones
It's not real time though, it's a cutscene isn't it.
Camden Miller
>old gen >make every polygon matter >new gen >shit out polygons for the most insignificant of details
Michael Scott
Shut up nigger, early 3D is the epitome of soul, plus if you actually knew shit about the industry at the time 3D was very demanded by both creators and costumers, with 80's games like I, Robot already experimenting and implementing it.
