The polygonal graphics trend of rht 32 Bit era was a mistake

Polygonal graphics all looked like complete ass back in the 90's, and everyone should have waited until the following generation to try to push for it. Instead, we had ugly games with even more dated gameplay, but it was acceptable back then because it was "the future", even though 2D games from that time period could STILL be released today and nobody would criticize them for being "outdated".

Polygonal graphics looked ugly even back then, and everybody knew that, but they kept deluding themselves that these visuals were anything good looking.

literally soulless

The right side looks visually superior than the first Toy Story, at the very least.

i think it's nice

good theory user,

however, without more developers creating products in 3d, the need to progress it would not have happened and you would only have had 2d games.

no it doesnt

Nah, you're just bad at recognizing aesthetics and projecting your own mediocrity upon others as some kind of divine revelation.

Which doesn't phaze me from a faggot blogposting on Zig Forums of all places.

It's funny because I would rather play Toy Story 2 than any modern platformer, let alone the homoerotic Disney fanfiction.

To be fair, Disney games from the 90's were mostly highly polished and had quality.

Contrast that to the garbage they spew out now.

How the hell can you sit there and call an outdated technology a mistake just because it looks like shit from our current perspective?

PS1 had a game?

I think you're a Grade A retard.

soul/soulless

>"we should not have pushed technology and artistry because graphics would eventually get better"

They looked like absolute ASS back then. Even by the standards back then.

>what is a consumer standard

Left: soul
Right: soulless

Toy Story 2 is fantastic while Kingdom Hearts 3 is weeb trash, rendering your point moot.

You cant help yourself, westerncuck

IDK I like those old graphics. Had soul.

i love the poligonal artstyle, specially if they warp like in ps1, so good.
FF9, mega man legends, soul calibur and mgs have to be my all time favorites

PS1 and N64 low poly was definitely rough looking. Part of it was the artists though. For example, the Mario model in Mario 64 DS has less polys than the original and he looks more like Mario. I thought Starfox was neat back in 1993. Low poly 15fps and all

Yeah, because the art form and technology were both in their infancy. That's how every new medium starts, it doesn't really come into its own fully until people stumble through all the mistakes first.

good image. KH3 is way too low poly and the lighting and shading is shit.

I still think it's pretty impressive that i can play in something with that much gorgeous detail in real time

There was absolutely no excuse for Nintendo to not port StarFox on the GameBoy Advance.

You're a retard, they couldn't get to the right without the left. Thats like saying invent the car before the wheel

They could have just waited, instead of trying to jump the gun on hardware that wasn't even capable to begin with.

>they could have built the motor, body, all computer tech, before the thing that makes it even move

Reread what I said

Yes and it was kino

low IQ

It's not real time though, it's a cutscene isn't it.

>old gen
>make every polygon matter
>new gen
>shit out polygons for the most insignificant of details

Shut up nigger, early 3D is the epitome of soul, plus if you actually knew shit about the industry at the time 3D was very demanded by both creators and costumers, with 80's games like I, Robot already experimenting and implementing it.

It's an in-game cutscene rendered by UE4

Fragile amerimutt masculinity lmao
