Would you play a video game that teaches you Japanese?
Would you play a video game that teaches you Japanese?
Probably
Day 16 with no end in sight, baby. I finally feel like I'm actually learning a language
based mary
is this actually useful? i have a n2ds, might as well play it
Bumping this out of sheer curiosity
Only if it was taught by hot anime babes
>those prices
knowledge should be free, you shill
Had it when I was a kid, it starts by trying to build your vocab through romaji and with shitty whack a mole minigames. Didn't get far enough to even see when it introduces kana.
>knowledge should be free, you shill
Maybe, but it's not and we just gotta live with it. Get a job.
Or find a torrent which no doubt exists.
>get a job
i have a job, i'm not going to pay 600 dollars for this
>but it's not and we just gotta live with it
pathetic slave
I don't see how it's $600. Unless you're aggregating the total cost you'd sink into it if you spent 3 years with it, but then its kind of worth it.
Is this actually better than free stuff like tae kim or genki pdfs? I've gotten pretty far with that and being a weeb.
I hope you're not just a shill, because it's going to be really fucking funny watching you disappear in a month or two when you realise how worthless this shit is.
>1 - 5 premium: $575
>all of them individually: $150 x 5 = $750
the only other option is "try a free lesson". not free version, just one single free lesson
Aight this is goy shit. There's no such thing as easy language learning anyway. No one ever learned japanese without spending years grinding kanji.
>600 dollars
That's if you buy the files outright. Its otherwise 20 bucks a month, and it's a 5 month course as long as you actually do your daily lesson so really you paying 100 assuming you have will power
>5 month course
The first year is the easy part of learning japanese.
$100 probably would've been more reasonable if the courses weren't all entirely made up of mp3 files with no reading
>Is this actually better than free stuff like tae kim or genki pdfs?
Depends entirely on your learning style. If you are comfortable doing vocab flash cards every day until fluency, you might as well just go with what's free. Some people like me need structure to their learning beyond that and for that, it's fantastic. Its really a better alternative to something like Duolingo than it is an alternative to Anki.
Otherwise it's definitely the best possible choice when it comes to learning pronounciation and sentence structure
Not him but I've done all 5 months and it got me to early-intermediate pretty satisfyingly
Only if it were a hentai game, as that would really help with my attention span.
Nobody said it was made to get you to fluency
It has some reading lessons but they are supplimentarily and pretty shit if I'm gonna be honest. You might as well just use Anki in it's place
>people hate /jp/ and Zig Forums /djt/ culture
>Zig Forums /djt/ is absent
>Zig Forums /djt/ is consistently hunted to even form

BOY
Really 5 months is enough to learn kana, some kanji and the basic grammar rules. If you try to play vidya, you'll be able to get through the menus but other than that you have a hard road of grinding kanjis and figuring out idioms. I learned this pretty hard when I tried to play DQV in moon.
It's good but goddamn those prices. I don't feel bad about pirating it.
Maybe if you aren't using Pimsleur.
All jokes aside though, as someone who did do all 5 months, it does get you to the point of natural conversations. It actually is a really good course for that. Not sure why so many people here are against it
Ironically Zig Forums has the best Japanese threads. /jp/ eats crayons and Zig Forums has polish autism where you aren't even allowed to discuss the language.
Learning is fun, so sure
Because natural conversations are of literally zero use to anyone who isn't a fucking tourist.
Just use Genki.
You know, we could have /djt/ style threads on Zig Forums if it actually focused on untranslated games (or even good starter games for learning) instead of "how do I learn" autism and obvious roundabout ways to try and sneak the topic by jannies.
The boxart should feature a loli moebug and a milf with cowtits
If it's a RPG sure
Hold on now. You just went from "5 months is only enough for kana and basic grammar" but now you are saying that conversations 5 months in isn't enough.
I'm starting to think you are just bored and looking to bicker
Just play Yokai watch on emulator.
does writing kanji down actually help you memorize the way they look or is it just a meme
>furigana
Based
Yes it does. It also helps you recognize radicals in other kanji, which is invaluable for looking things up.
I mostly know hiragana.
That’s it.
You can easily reach N4 level in like 5 months.
Yes, but but not by enough to go through all the trouble.
Is this any good?
I know hiragana, katakana and understand the basic grammar system but kanji is a pain in the ass
Play DQ XI guys
Is this shit really worth $20 a month. I didn't even know what Pimsleur was, but I've seen some anons on Zig Forums claiming it's the best language program they've ever used and said they've made more progress with it than any other system.
I was using Japanese From Zero because the creator offers free lessons on his site, actually you get the entire first book for free, and I liked his presentation and teaching style.
Zig Forums DJT threads aren't up h24, it's usually just anons reporting progress. It's half flexing and half shilling paid software.
Anyone else sometimes forget certain Katakana due to how some look really similar and the fact that it isn't used too often?
I'm not the other guy, dude. You can learn the vast majority of kanji and most grammar in 5 months.
The best, cheapest way to learn Kanji AND Vocab is WaniKani.
Yeah and you can be N1 in a year too, it's that easy!
For me, its lingodeer
Is this worth doing for practice?
Ah yes, the only options are barely learning how to say "I would like a cup of coffee, please" in 5 months, or taking ritalin and grinding out 16 hours of anki a day.
I can safely say that in my experience its worth the money and has gotten me farther in 2 weeks than any other program has (not that I've used many)
Just try the first lesson and see if you like it
is MIA/AJATT a stupid cult?
Yes. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.
