Absolutely based, my favorite character is flawed, she has insecurities, lack of confidence, helps a terrorist organization even though almost no one agrees with them or their method. I love Tifa and I love the fact that she isn't a straight line.

Going straight for Aerith didn't make any sense. Elmyra told the party she would be treated as a guest at the Shinra HQ. Checking on the people of the slums (Tifa's people, potentially dozens of them as opposed to just one person), the bar, potentially helping people stuck in a life or death situation takes priority. They went after Aerith right after anyway, it was obviously the right decision since they managed to free her and she was pretty much unharmed. It
Anyway, Tifa was pretty much avoiding to be confrontational with Elmyra which was obviously mentally exhausted after what happened. She never gave up on Aerith.

If they said they had to rescue Aerith right away it would feel weird to spend so much time in the sewers talking to Leslie. They needed to make how long it takes to get to Shinra HQ make sense somehow. Yes Tifa does sound like an idiot here but it makes sense when you consider the story had to be stretched out.

That still didnt happen. The first people that noticed Akechi's duplicity were Joker and Morgana and they went to Futaba with the info and the basics of the plan were formed. Makoto was obviously important in said plan since she is the one who knows Sae the most and would be most able to manipluate her and exploit her palace due to her real life awareness of what her sister does and where she often goes.

Makoto was pretty instrumental in the plan but the basics were from Joker; the cat and Futaba.
