Cloud may have been the biggest surprise because he was mostly iconic to Playstation with no appearances of note on any Nintendo system.

I was super happy to see him. I grew up on SotN. So seeing Richter was much more exciting for me then Simon.

Who the fuck likes Richter more than Simon? Nobody even played Dracula X and barely anyone replayed SotN after beating it just to play as Richter.

Ridley and K Rool were the big ones of those.

But for me, it was Richter. Best addition since Dedede.

Every single smash reveal, regardless of character, instantly causes me to shit and come in my pants. This is why I constantly create Smash threads on the board, I perpetuated the Minecraft Steve threads for months, and even meta-threads like these. I constantly chase the thrill of 2007 when Snake was confirmed for Brawl. That was the high point of my life.

This. I mean it's the reason the Sonic reveal wasn't as impactful. Sonic was a literal grade-school rumor character in SSBM and then they actually put him in the game. I joined Zig Forums right after the Japan release so I don't know how Zig Forums was when that finally happened AND the game was delayed again at the same time

Mega Man was the only one that got a legit reaction out of me. Especially during a time where he was basically dead and shit was getting cancelled left and right.

Pac-Man was my #1 for all of Smash ever.

Banjo was my #3 most wanted
Simon was an obvious favorite since Super Castlevania 4 is one of the greatest games ever made.
Terry is probably the one that hit me the hardest because all these other characters including Banjo I actually thought had a shot but I never thought Terry was an option. Even if SNK was an option, I just assumed they would choose Kyo despite being the wrong choice.
Mega Man, Cloud, Ryu, and Ridley are obviously huge

Shit like Erdrick and Snake are a nice bonus. The only characters that devalued the game in terms of guests are Joker and Bayo. I still have no idea why they're in the game at all.
