Should i use the Drake sword till Sen's Fortress? I feel like it's bit "cheating" to use it. This isn't my first playthrough and i know what i'm doing, but the game is still tough.

Cheese the game, no one cares. No point having the knowledge to make the game easier and not using it.
i used to rush to the first black knight in the castle and if he did not drop the sword i would restart the game, you should do that too
How is it cheating? Dragon weapons are supposed to be great raw.
The balance comes from it not scaling for shit
I didn't get that sword and nah, i'm not doing that, i'm almost 4 hours in
Sure
The game is a rpg, you found a cool powerful sword so use it. If you want other op weapons you can make a fire weapon or get the gravelord sword. Astora straight sword is pretty good to. And magic is really good.
I don't want to use summon or cheese the game, i did that too much on my first playthrough
Yeah, but it's still the strongest weapon even during Blightown
I don't see why you would when you can get a +15 weapon that will far outstrip Drake before even stepping foot in Sen's
Blight town is only like 25% of the way through the game, if that.
Right now i'm trying to kill that magic guy before Gargoyles, i can upgrade another weapon maybe like +5(?) and Drake sword will still be more powerful
Just make another weapon and have that one for back up. The drake sword will fall off for damage sooner than you think.
>you can get a +15 weapon that will far outstrip Drake before even stepping foot in Sen's
This is why Dark Souls 1 will always be better than new From games. The devs made the game tough but also didn't care if players wanted to get op shit.
How is the Switch port? I played the game a shit ton on PS3 and the thought of a portable version sounds kinda cool.
No one cares how you beat DS games today anyways so go ahead
I have +1 longsword now, it has dmg 88, drake sword has 200, it does kinda feel like cheesing but i don't know
Lawl this faggot is trying to talk to nintendo users. This user is a Fucking retard Faggot actually more specific
Hahahhahahahahhahahahahhaha
Bloodborne is probably my second favorite Soulsborne game, but i agree that DS1 is the best
The drake sword is a noob trap weapon. It’s may seem strong but anything leveled up does better than the drake sword. It also has the worst scaling in the game. So your stats don’t factor in at all. It’s designed to seem good to new players but it’s true purpose is to mislead you to waste your time.
>Lawl this faggot is trying to talk to nintendo users. This user is a Fucking retard Faggot actually more specific
Uhh, what?
I know that it becomes useless after some time, but it is the best weapon till like maybe Sen's Fortress
This, also
>brakes in the Blighttown
>a-at least I still have my +3 Claymore
Honestly, getting the weapon isn't even worth the time when you know what you're doing. You can just as easily dispatch enemies without it. And by the time you get a +5 weapon, it's going to be around the same strength anyway.
The Drake is 200
All other weapons hover around that at +5. So if you just grab the claymore, which is right there on the dragon bridge, you end up with a weapon that is 180 at +5. And that's at the mere requirement to handle the weapon. Not counting more str and dex
At 19str and 14dex, you already match the drake sword in strength. Plus, the claymore has greater reach and a useful thrust attack. AND you can two hand the claymore for bonus damage. Which isn't possible with the drake sword since it doesn't scale.
All of this can easily be accomplished by the time you reach andre. All you have to do is save some of the souls in your inventory, and then you can purchase the titanite required off andre to get the weapon to +5.
Also, when you reach the depths, you will find a large titanite that can get your weapon to +6. Making your playmore 220. So you can actually have a weapon stronger than the drake sword well before Sen's fortress. And even before you get your first dragon scale.
The Drake Sword is a joke weapon for new players. It makes them feel awesome and powerful, not realizing that they would be better off otherwise. And then it eventually becomes obsolete. While the player is so attached to it, and doesn't know what he's missing out on, so he continues on win a weakened stated.
I was thinking about using scimitar, but you can't use "kick" with that weapon (to for example get enemies lower their shield's) so that kinda ruined it. I'm using longsword now, claymore is good but i used it in previous plauthough the whole game after getting it
The Battle axe is more fun. The animation just feels better. Like you're cleaving right into their flesh.
Does good damage. And has more staggering ability than longswords.
The port isnt bad, played through it a year or so ago and nothing stood out as garbage. If you can somehow get it cheap then go for it
It's pretty fun, i kinda like halberd too
>halberds
Isn't the gargoyle halberd the best chaos weapon in the game or am I talking out my ass?
I mean you could just kill one of the black knights either in the asylum or the basin and see if you get the drop, depending on the outcome just cheese the game.
It gives you like poison resistance, I don't remember my friend used that shit until he got the BK axe.
just parry/backstab those knight
It's probably the best chaos *halberd* in the game. Because chaos damage is based off the weapon's base damage. So whichever has the higher base damage will make the better chaos weapon.
>not using the chaos zweihander
why not just grab the zewihander from the cemetery near the bonfire, that shit will carry you trough the game
I got lucky and got the Black Knight Halberd early on and I used it pretty much exclusively. Still had trouble with bosses because you still gotta know how to play the game
Having a good weapon means nothing if you don't have the mechanics to back it up
imagine thinking equipment matters in a skill based gam
>higher base damage makes for better chaos infusions
>I have played this game on and off for nearly ten years and I never figured this out
the more you know
Lord forgive me but I struggle to give up my BK halberd, dragon tooth and demon spear
for me? Zweihander+10
This.
Or if you're going dex the uchi.
We all know dex is gay.
I didn't care for the drake sword. Just getting it is boring and it's kinda ugly.
Well I should be honest and say I don't have chaos stuff figured out down to a meta level. But just generally speaking, the fire path strips scaling, and then splits damage between normal and fire. Both normal and fire added together, is higher than just normal alone. But regardless, when the damage gets split, if the weapon has a higher normal, then it will have a higher split. It's proportional that way.
If memory serves, the gargoyle halberd has a higher normal base damage than the others, and so proportionally, the split down the fire path is slightly higher than the others too.
It's kinda slow if i remember correctly
Everything is slow in Ds1.
Port is great, probably the only switch game I play in fact. Got over 200h on it and never had any problems, performance or otherwise.
It's exactly the same game though, literally no changes done to anything.
It's good when you're new because you'll be able to invest into HP, stamina and load instead of offensive stats until you're more used to the game, when the sword stops being useful.
>This isn't my first playthrough and i know what i'm doing
>I feel like it's bit "cheating" to use it
You are clearly stupid though
A +5 regular weapon is already better than a drake sword, and if you know what you are doing you can get the smith upgrade and level your weapon up to +7 quite fast
