Games are fun not art

Can't they be both?

Hotline Miami
Viewtiful Joe
Journey

Gone home

Ghost of Tsushima.
Every 10 15 minutes i wander around this game i'm fucking in awe of the environment design.
Also atomospheric as fuck.

If this game had some small minor yakuza/RDR shit you could do it would basically be a 10/10

Donkey Kong Country 1/2
Cuphead
Not even joking

All of them
creation is art

Games aren't art. Manchildren who realized they wasted their whole life focusing on their little e-toys forced that meme to justify themselves.

Dark Souls
Bioshock

Go back to réddit

no such thing as art, only brushed oils on canvas and strings pulled on a hunk of wood.

I hate this meme.

It’s an absolute misery to play but I’d at least consider the modeling and animation work on Trico a piece of art in and of itself. Never have I played a game with such a believable animal and often times I felt bad for leaving it alone or wait for it when it lagged a bit behind even though there was no actual reason to. There were neat little details in the physics around it to that made it all the more believable, such as when it breathed out the environment would react to its breath, or the dust would fall off walls with the steps it would take.

Really, I forced myself through the game just because I was so impressed with Trico, but I can definitely see why it entered development hell and I imagine it was only released due to massive incentive from Sony.

all video games technically qualify as art, but i can't think of a single one that i would consider high art

Why the fuck does everything have to be a cartoon or be abstract to be considered 'art'.

can you name one that's neither?

See

just watch a movie dude

I consider any game with minimal to zero UI art.

Memes aside, the game wasn't good. Gameplay was bad, plot was meh, and it felt like they were cramming politics down my throat.

Okami, but that feels like cheating. The remaster is gorgeous though, if you liked the game originally its worth it.
