Will somebody for the love of God tell me how the fuck to make the USB Loaders work? I've tried most of them in different versions and I'm still fucking lost as most of them crash either on their loading screens or menus when I try to select any .WBFS
Will somebody for the love of God tell me how the fuck to make the USB Loaders work...
I just wanted to play RE4
play it via Nintendont instead. :^)
Nigger can you help a brother out
Did you get the necessary cIOS'es installed?
Did you get the cIOS installed?
Install the d2x-cIOS with pic related config. Make sure to patch your IOS36 and install the IOS236
I vaguely remember doing this in 2011.
You install a program to change very specific parts of the NAND memory.
Was actually kind of scary and could brick the system, but if I could figure it out, surely you can.
t. Dumbass
I'm not retarded, I followed every step in these fucking guides
sites.google.com
wii.guide
They make it seem like drag and drop but nothing works. It always seems to crash and die on me
This thread gave me nostalgia for the Wii homebrews, good old times.
Man I haven't updated my cIOS in a decades or so.
Is your usb device by any chance sandisk?
Because usbloading with sandisk drives is hit and miss
Honestly fuck using guides for stuff like that, look on youtube and follow literal brain-dead step by step instructions. I hacked my wii like a month ago, people are STILL making guides for it for some reason. The one I followed was from 2019 so do with that what you will.
Try another USB loader like WiiFlow Lite. You may also need to change the setting "Use IOS58" in the USB Loader GX settings, this causes a lot of problems for some users (I think it's under features?).
t. admin of big homebrew website
>look on youtube
don't ever do this
>USB Loader GX
I haven't used my Wii in almost a decade and even back then UGX was outdated
Last update is from June 2019, but it's still being worked on
I honestly don't know what to tell you. If an absolute dumbfuck like me can bumble my way into getting usb loader gx to work then I'm sure you'll be able to do it too. We're just trying to help, user.
That's kinda impressive, I tried it for a bit back then in 2010, but other loaders always worked so much better for me.
I've got no fucking clue but with my luck probably
I've tried all three of the big ones with no dice and using several different versions, here let me show you what I've dispelled to my graveyard in WiiFlow alone
Bless you for your well wishing user, I just wish I fucking understood computers
Can you do a SysCheck please? static.wiidatabase.de
Paste it to pastebin or elsewhere and make sure to delete your Console ID.
Your USB is plugged into the rightmost port while the Wii is standing and you're looking at it from behind (if it's an original Wii)? USB 3.0 also causes problems.
(forgot: it creates a "syscheck.csv" in the root of the SD card, open it with e.g. Notepad++)
when you say crash do you mean hard crash or returned to the home menu
You got it user, oh fuck there's something I didn't mention. I'm using a USB only there's no SD card in the Wii
I've had freezing and returns to menu
return to home menu when you launch a game usually means the file path to the game is wrong and can't find it
have you used wii backup manager yet? if not then copy the games over to the external hdd using that, that was what caused my games to crash on selection personally, but if you have then i dont know what else could cause it
Huh, noted, well I extracted the zip/7zs and then fused their app folders to my main. I really don't understand
Oh and yes I'm using the rightmost port (one that less of the Wii casing around it). The report worked but I don't have jack shit to show. (probably the fault of having no SD)
>a Wii hacking thread
Guess this a good time than any to ask: has anyone ever made codes for these games to unlock the stuff locked behind the toy bullshit? Buying the figs for these games isnt an option anymore as stores dont sell 'em and Ebay fuckers ask too much for them.
100% Save files would be nice too but I swear none seem to exist on the net...
I was using a straight .WBFS in the WBFS folder, is that necessary? I'll totally use it if I need to!
worth a try
never done any other method other than wii backup manager and never had any problems like that it pretty much does everything for you
If what's happening to you is what happened to me when I tried this years ago, you basically have to have the folders named something weird, then the games themselves have to follow some other weird naming pattern.
it's not necessary, every modern USB loader will also load WBFS with any name. Usually, the file path is:
/wbfs/Game Name [ID6]/ID6.wbfs
where ID6 is the game id from e.g. GameTDB.com. It's not necessary though.
they're all shit, don't bother. Just use a Wii U and install the games through WUP installer to get on the menu. The Wii U lets you put everything in folders and WUP installs everything automatically at once kind of like the CIA installer on the 3DS. I've pretty much abandoned the Wii and everything involved with it. I think the last time I used it I used Gecko and the loader looked like shit but it worked. Wiiflow never worked for me even though I was on 4.3 or whatever it was that was the gold standard firmware back then.
Also this. Youtube is unfortunately the only way to filter out the bullshit because the person actually does what he is claiming to do on video, whereas a guide could've been written by a complete illiterate who has to spend a whole paragraph explaining something that could be demonstrated in 2 seconds in a video.
>Youtube is unfortunately the only way to filter out the bullshit
no, it creates a more problems than it solves. I have to unfuck a lot of Wiis because the guides on YouTube are all shit
I figured, but this is what fixed my issue when I couldn't get shit working so I figured I'd suggest it.
