The biggest problem with this game is that Novigrad is too long and Skellige is too short. The game drags hard during the Novigrad portion and feels like you can hardly enjoy the beautiful Skellige portion

benis

nah

To a degree agree. Velen,in my opinion was the most action packet.

>The biggest problem with this game
>not the awful combat

as far as the main story goes yeah, but there's a lot of cool side story stuff to do in skelige. I for example ended up in jail on my first playthrough. And then again in blood and wine

Learn to play, scrub. Imagine getting filtered by W3 combat.

This. Why would I want to fuck around shitty Slav hives when I can be exploring beautiful Nordic landscapes?

>The biggest problem with this game
is that its fucking broken in every posible way. Loot system is mentally retarded and useless and make no sense. You are rewarded with boredom for exploring and doing side quests. There isnt a single quest reward or loot in this game that is actually unique or cool.
>here take this awesome sword witcher
>no thanks its lvl 19 and i am using random drop sword level 25
rpg mechanics are god awful. You dont need alchemy, you dont need upgrades. You can finish every encounter as long as you are approximate level with attack and dodge.

Choices from 2 does not matter and make no sense. Literally colliding one with another and meaningless . They literally told me to go fuck myself for bothering to play w1 and w2 and import my save. Also Ending is fucking terrible.
>hey I am gonna be queen now
>ok cool
>arent you sad? is this goodbye?
>lol why of course not you can just teleport to see me whenever you want. Same goes for me really.
>game dev:REEEEEEEEEE CANT YOU HEAR THE MUSIC ITS SUPPOSED TO BE SAD REEEEEEEEEEE
>no it really is not sad in any way
>game dev: BE SAD REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>standard RPG faggotry where you can't fight anything reliably that is 4 or more levels than you
>every hit you land is 1 damage
>every hit they land is 190 damage
this why action RPG combat is fucking trash

It works better if you weave the two together. Lots of people, myself included, will finish Velen and Novigrad before even going to Skellige. You can go much sooner than this, though. Switching back and forth between the two as soon as you're leveled enough for Skellige makes it a nice relief.

oh and I forgot the off screen saving the world and solving the problem. OFF SCREEN. In 200 hours long game!

i agree that the gear rewards and shit is pretty stupid, but if you get a witcher gear set asap you're pretty much set for the rest of the base game

>running around with the same sword and gear for roughly 200 more hours
haha no, you're right that the witcher gear is really good for most of the game but that is just garbage design for it to outclass the majority of the endgame weapons

yeah, most egregious example being the blade of winter or whatever you get from crach before the battle of kaer morhen, which is supposed to be a legendary blade passed down for generations, and its worse than whatever witcher sword you have if it's superior grade

Oh I get it, you're like one of those retarded people I've heard so much about.

Yeah the loot system and leveled enemies are the dumbest shit ever.
>dozens of regular humans(!!!!!!!) with a ?? level who are literally undefeatble and oneshot you in fucking Velen near level 10 quests

Why?
They aren't even guarding any worthwhile loot, it's throwaway trash.

And if you do quests of low level later you get 1 XP instead of the full amount.
Some level 11 quest are in fucking skellige, you are level 18-20 before you even get there by doing all the velen shit.
Literally what in the fuckig fuck.

With the right setup you can take on anything alchemy and crits are extremely powerful.

also skellige is like 90% water and all the fucking points of interest in the middle of it

I didn't realize how flawed the game was until I played through it a 2nd time on highest difficulty.

imo the beginning swamp area/barron questline is the weakest. It's just ugly and more of a chore than anything else.

Not true, red skull, the higher level than you, enemies deal far more damage to you but you still deal enough damage to kill them, the combat system isnt hard enough (the problem is how basic it is) that you should be getting fucked by red skull enemies. Its harder earlier on, but by midgame Thunderbolt potion + Quen/Igni makes most non boss mobs, higher level or not, easy to deal with as long as you can dodge.

>if you get a witcher gear set asap you're pretty much set for the rest of the base game
so why would you bother with anything outside of the main quest in this game? its like the game literally expects from you to play it just to hear witty and sarcastic dialog from everyone. yes it has great quests but only in context, not gameplay.
>hold witcher sense and explore
>follow tracks
>kill enemy
>travel 300 meters to report it so you can get gold that you dont really need at all.
Multiply this with 100 at least.

this is when I wanted to uninstall. Unironically. I finally realized that the game is just wasting my time on purpose and I am dealing with hacks that has put rng loots so they wouldnt have to actually carefully plan and implement anything.
this boils down to pressing light attack before you have to dodge. Then spamming light attack again. Then dodge

>Novigrad is too long
sure
>Skellige is too short
what

The biggest problem is the lack of comfy inns.
They had one job, with inns, they even had the Rosemary and Thyme which had all the potential of being a comfy inn but it failed.
Needs a lot of visitors in and out, needs more rowdy atmosphere.
Needs chairs you can sit in and have beers in, needs rooms with beds that work.

In my experience, literally all open world games are terrible the second time through.

Witcher 3 suffers from dev and player burnout. Velen has the best mix of sidequests, characters and choice heavy main quests. From Novigrad onwards the scope of the game seems smaller and smaller, and by Skellige, most players have had enough of all the treasure hunting and have enough for a set of Master Witcher armor if they did most of the locations in Velen and Novigrad. Skellige is 80% water caches and 20% decent quality quests (aside from the main one).

Toussiant feels a lot more like Velen again in its quest and world design, which makes sense because the Devs were able to take a step back and come back after taking a breather.

Armor and weapon loot should have been taken out entirely. This would have made the decent crafting system actually meaningful and given the rewards received during missions actual value.

Is there a mod for this?

>the first amour set you get looks the best
why bother

not him but my issue wasn't so was the difficulty as it was the fact the combat was fucking boring, repetitive and just kinda janky
the most fun i had with it was early game when i wasn't entirely comfortable with the mechanics going after high level monster contracts
second most fun i had was was during very end game where i had enough levels to unlock fuck ton of the perks and powers and fuck around with the mechanics bit more, other than that i barely even remember any fights
considering how fucking huge part of the game the combat was, i would agree though, it was definitely the biggest problem of the game

oh actually the fucking massive bandit camps in blood & wine were pretty fucking neat as far as combat went, just waves and waves of enemies coming at you actually made me feel like i could potentially lose for a change

>filtered
This has become the biggest buzzword when people don’t know how to defend their tastes.
I genuinely love W3, but 95% of encounters can be be won with Attack Attack Dodge Attack Attack Shield sign Repeat. The game gives you tons in resources and moves, but you hardly ever need them
