This game worth playing or no? I am going to have to dedicate a good 100 hours into learning the tracks before playing online is even an option so does this game still have a community or what? No point getting good at these tracks only to learn there is no online presence and all that.
I see no threads on /vg/ and no threads about dirt rally on Zig Forums so i assume this game is dead?

I really hate the washed out cinematic lighting and effects. Dirt Rally 1 had a more natural look. Also, this game won't run at an acceptable framerate on my system that runs Dirt Rally 1, no matter what settings I use. And they completely rehauled the physics, just to still leave asphalt broken.
Dirt Rally 1 was great for single-player, I imagine the same is still true for Dirt Rally 2. But Dirt Rally 2 does have more Rallycross content, which is good for multiplayer. But a regular rally is just a battle of time, no side by side racing.

I am up to B class on dirt 2.0 and i am getting over it. Need to learn every track at 100% with no mistakes, 1 fuck up restart the race. It is annoying without an end goal, Is all of the online play really just freaking ghosts? If so fuck this game i am going to find DIRT 2 and play that.

You do realize that in rally you don't actually have to "learn" the tracks? Thats why you have a dude sitting next to you who tells you what to expect. Of course it helps to know the tracks, but if you have good fundamentals you absolutely can get good times on your first try.

The career mode is infinitely more fun if you stop abusing the restart button. Remember that you get promoted to the next class as long as you finish in the top 3. Rallying is a marathon not a sprint.

Shit you could even get your rallycross cars in a 5 man race with collision on rally tracks in DIRT 2.
The car handling really is no different either, everyone who says it is never played DIRT 2, Game engine on dirt 2.0 is clearly using DIRT 2 physics.

Wtf are you on about? DR1 has Germany and Monaco being mainly Tarmac which is 2 out of 6 locations. DR2 has Spain which is the worst location in both games so I agree on that. But the Tarmac sections of Poland and Australia are so fucking short they're basically neglible. DR2 also changes Monaco into an actual Ice and snow track.

They're selling every single car and location from post launch individually. The locations are all ports from DR1 except for Scotland. What I did was just pick up the locations from DR1 I liked individually because I don't care about Rallycross and most of the cars. But now you're probably best off getting the Complete Edition when it's on sale again.

It's okay but: - Huge focus on rallycross, and I don't give a single fuck about that. So 40% of the content is lost on me. - Compared to DR1 it's very weak in terms of new content, if it's your first DR go for it though. - It's very solo oriented, and there's not a single tentative in making the "campaign" somewhat scenarised. I like that but be warned. - The biggest feature of the game are daily/weekly/monthly trials, which are really fun to do. The pure solo mode is bad.

dirt 4 was great because of that, the generated tracks were a solid idea and really helped visualizing the pace notes.
