It's Final Fantasy fucking VII, 5 million is literally nothing. VII Remake sold 3.5 million copies over the launch weekend. That means in the past six months of everybody sitting around at home, the remake to FINAL FANTASY VII, one of the most sought-after and asked about video games of all time, has "shipped and sold" just 1.5 million copies. Notice how they had to put "Shipped and sold" instead of just "sold".
I don't have a dog in this race, XV was hogshit and VII was only slightly better but still pretty terrible besides the music, the character models and the VA. And yeah the game will probably make up its budget when it releases to Xbone/PC, but that's still fucking paltry compared to the numbers they were probably expecting.

That's a minimum of $300M in sales, and I doubt the game cost more than 50N - 70M to make given the quality of it, so yeah, they definetly made a profit.

I won't buy this game until there's a complete edition with all of the parts bundled together on Steam, at a steep discount of $40 or less for everything. I'm willing to wait a few years.
