To be fair, can you really blame him for not fully absorbing Snake’s lessons? The Big Shell was a total clusterfuck for him, to point where he even began questioning what was real or not, and caused his long-surpressed PTSD to flare up. I do not think a person in the frame of mind of Raiden post-Big Shell is able to sift through and constructively incorporate life lessons learned from the terrible, day-long acid trip that was the Big Shell
