4k is fantastic for productivity and shit. I can have fullscreen porn open, as well as 3 more windows, all on one monitor.

most of the games that support 16:9 will support 21:9, yes, that includes old games that were made for 4:3 and got community fixes. shit, there's even ultrawide patches for emulators in a few cases. so stop talking out of your ass

I imagine ultrawide would be great for atmospheric games and I could imagine having a great time playing EVE Online on one.

However these days I mainly play 'competitive' shooters where the massive screen with weird aspect ratio would be a hindrance rather than a help. I play on a 27" 1440p 165Hz monitor and even then I sometimes think I'd react a little faster to things in my peripheral vision on a 24" one.

In certain games it will allow you to see more of the arena, also more things to see and notice in other games, there is no downside

Ultrawide is nice, too bad hardly any games support it. Fucking hate cutscenes having black borders, especially in RPGs with dialogue where the devs couldn't be bothered to support it.

Know what 3440x1440 goes into pretty fucking easily? 4k. So you get an ultrawide resolution, but with another 400 pixels off to the side. And you have the option to use the other 720 pixels of vertical room to play games in 16:9 instead of a meme format.
