Video games were a bit shit this gen with very few new and exciting things with innovation being mostly on the side of monetization.
Where the PS4 was a PS3 but better looking graphics, the PS5 is promising brand new gameplay experiences that would've been impossible on previous generations thanks to the power of solid state storage technology. Turns out graphics aren't everything, especially when you can't market it. Most consumers see console ads as 720p highly compressed YouTube videos streamed over a spotty 3G connection to a 5inch 1080p smartphone so it's gonna look like shit regardless.
Even on the shittiest of videos you can tell Ratchet is a fun game with enough stuff happening that a PS4 couldn't possibly run it.
MS has not yet realized this and is instead trying to sell the SeXbox as "a product in the Xbox family of devices" of which the only distinguishing feature from other Xbox devices is that "your games will look better". There's no magic, real or marketed, that makes it special at least if you ask MS themselves.
