How come have you not played Chrono Trigger yet?

The game is way too old and has probably aged terribly

I never had a console.

But I have.

Even one of my normalfag chad coworkers played it

When I was a kid I played chrono trigger maybe 30 times. Mostly when I was sick. I maxed out the levels of all characters and was able to breeze through the game pretty quickly after a dozen ng+

i did and it bored me after 1 hour

I hate Akira Toriyama's art and always have, I know it's all sprites at the end of the day but the cover fills me with revulsion to the point where I've avoided it

I played the DS version like a decade ago. Not really a fan of RPGs but I did like it. Probably helps that it was short and to the point (without being ancient and cryptic) unlike most other ones I've tried.

this

Why though?

why bother when you can jump into infinitely superior sequel

I regret not buying the Virtual Console version on the Wii before it went down.

The way he draws humans mostly, their proportions, faces, hairstyles
I'm not an art critic, it's just a visceral reaction, like smelling vomit

I already did.
A simple yet entertaining adventure.

I can respect that, his artstyle is not appealing to everyone.

i have it on the backlog

While an amazing game back in the day, the rpg genre has come too far in the ways of storytelling, visuals, music and gameplay for it to be enjoyable in any other way than through nostalgia googles. I can appriciate the game for what it was but I cant appriciate the game.

i played it in 2018 and it was totally fine to this day

I played it last year. It was fun.

Because it's some kind of turn based RPG thing and that's not a genre I really enjoy.

play it on steam or pirate it

Faggots who prefer Cross belong on one.

I don't think you can enjoy these games if they weren't a part of your childhood.

I have played on the ds but I thought was to basic compared to other rpg's from later eras

False. I was a Genesis kid. I went back to play Chrono Trigger last year. Loved it.

I hate turn-based JRPG combat
Chrono Trigger is above average in that regard but it's still shit

>turn based

whatever it's called where you fumble through menus to do actions

Action-RPG?

I want to but its too dated

Okay, maybe I got it wrong, I'll admit I've only seen brief clips but I thought it was turn based. Can you move and attack at the same time as your enemies then, like in something similar to the Mana games? Because it always looked like that kind of slow menu based combat that old FF games have. If that's not the case and it's a bit more frenetic then I might take a look.
