>playing Ghost of Sushi
>story is cool if a little predictable, visuals and presentation is great but combat is braindead and everything in the world that isn't a story mission is repetitive
>finally get to second region
>doing all the same shit
>rescue yet another civilian from a roving mongol horde on my journey to literally where the wind tells me to go
>tells me about some kappa shit happening all the way on the other side of the island
>game has literally not introduced any separate mechanics or elements for fighting supernatural enemies besides the vague implication of it at this point like the special equipment sidequests
>it's that fucking "whistles for magic horse" pasta played without irony, isn't it
>it was
Goddammit, Zig Forums
Playing Ghost of Sushi
games don't have to reinvent the wheel to be spectacular. GoT is immersive and more enjoyable than any other release in this shitty year.
also
>not a single effort to meme jin's bath time "I wish I had some company in here" with a wojak "tfw no gf" head
very disappointed in all of you, Zig Forumsros
>follow these footsteps
>ride horse and listen to how stronk the womynz are
>follow footsteps
>kill all mongols in camp
>listen/watch how stronk the womyn samurai army of all women is
>repeat
literally when? i don't remember any except for masako, yuna ain't no samurai, neither is tomoe
It's still a wonderful game,
Also name 1 game that isn't repetitive, literally every game are
we told you, we told you it was just an ass creed with a fresh coat of paint and you wouldnt listen!
Yes, it's shit.
>immersive
>Constantly running to checkpoints to do open world busywork
>Picking up numbers off the ground to do crafting
>World doesn't even try to resemble reality
I didn't finish Assassin's Creed Odyssey but I had a good amount of fun exploring Ancient Greece for a while, and then I dropped it when I got bored.
I'm close to dropping GoT but it was fun for a while.
When you force yourself to finish a game, that's not enjoying yourself, that's a fucking job.
jin is cute!
>waaah waaah i want a game movie booo
but it's the good oldschool asscreed. at least regarding the climbing and like, two "follow npc via rooftops" missions.
Why is there no lock-on in this game?
Playing through act 1 I thought it was a damn brilliant game, but once act 2 started I just totally lost all steam. The game is so fucking repetetive, and it gets way too easy once you unlock a bunch of skills and resolve, except for the duels which are insane difficulty spikes. They’re also by far the best thing about the game, and there’s hardly any, at least by comparison of big open fights against hordes of mongols.
the point of the pasta isn't just that it's repetitive, it's just shit
What did you expect. All AAA games these days use a template.
Because the game's combat involves "locked" animations and there's no verticality outside of Jin doing the Assassin's Creed dive-assassination from rooftops.
DMC/Bayonetta need lock on because doing an animation doesn't lock you into a stylish clash with an enemy, Bayonetta will throw a punch and the enemy will recoil, but it isn't like Ghost of Tsushima or Assassin's Creed where there is a set animation to the MC swinging their weapon and the enemy blocking or reacting to it. Bayonetta and Dante also need to jump to attack enemies in the air a lot, not to mention they have way more complexities in their moveset that contextualize directional input simultaneously to being locked on or not locked on.
>They’re also by far the best thing about the game, and there’s hardly any,
And what duels are there seem very samey. Yes. I haven't played the game, but I watched some boss compilations, and I swear, a lot of the bosses share a pool of moves, like when they sheathe their sword during a duel, then do a follow-up attack. The only boss that seems significantly different is the big Kahn guy with his glaive.
Can't say anything about the difficulty since I haven't fought them, but they do look samey as fuck.
Where are the bosses with the different weapons? Where is the boss with a big hammer, or a club or a kusarigama or dual blades or any other weapon?
>Where are the bosses with the different weapons? Where is the boss with a big hammer, or a club or a kusarigama or dual blades or any other weapon?
That sounds like actual work, bro. They're already too busy copying and pasting the same buildings into quasi-random arrangements for you to slaughter every enemy to liberate a territory.
Can i get someone to talk about the combat? Fuck stealth
How is it?
Wait for real?
never has a more mediocre video game been propped up by autists just to fuel their hatred for another video game from the same publisher
If you have played an Assassin's Creed game, especially either of the two modern RPG ones, it will seem intimately familiar, especially since so much of the moves are cribbed and even organized like Odyssey's.
>sword attack
>heavy sword attack
>you can switch stances which makes your heavy sword attack better against stunning sword users, shield users, spear users, big enemies respectively
>parry/block
>side step/dodge roll
>you can use a bow, or throwable gadgets like knives or bombs for breathing room
>you can learn a few special moves that use the "resolve"(basically a special stamina meter that you also use to heal)
It's not much deeper than any AAA game, the focus is on looking cool.
Shimura didn't deserve any of this. He was beyond based. Jin is a piece of shit. At least they give you the choice to redeem him a little bit at the very end.
>Nagoshi said cool game but Jin was not hot enough to waste AAA budget on him
I think he is plenty hot
Like other posters have said, it’s basically a more refined ass creed combat system (with all the annoyance that can entail like no lock on/enemies sliding towards you from three metres away even if you dodge them because that’s how the animations work)
It’s fun at first, but by the end they give you so many ‘I win’ tools and buttons(I’m talking at least 10 if not well more) you need to actively gimp yourself for any semblance of enjoyment. The game desperately needed some ‘endgame’ enemies that FORCED you to use the tools at your disposal because as it stands all the enemies are trivialised, doubly so when you take into account that using a stance for a corresponding enemy turns them into an enemy with all the threat of a wet noodle. So yeah. It really needed SOMETHING to add some difficulty to the fights by the middle of the second act where you get all of your tools and the upgrades you unlock just start trivialising things.
>They’re also by far the best thing about the game
There are only 3 types of duels.
General that they decided to turn into a duel, so it's like a normal general except you only have half your normal moveset.
Person with sword, and they all share the same moveset. Actually, I'm not sure they do, but I can't actually think of anything that disproves that, they all feel the same.
Final boss.
Duels were terrible.
open world games being repetitive? holy shit what a scoop
Sold this game a few days ago. Blew its load early on. Literally nothing new happens after the first region
Does anyone else think the story would have been better if Jim woke months after the battle of komoda beach instead of 3 days? The game simultaneously portrays tsushima as if it just got conquered and also has been under occupation for longer
>games don't have to reinvent the wheel to be spectacular.
Which is why it's impressive that this game didn't even meet that low ass bar.
How the fuck is a dude going to survive in a coma for months in the 13th century?
Theres crazy things that happen in the game. I was thinking during their first duel khotun could severely wound jin and he has to recuperate for weeks.
It could also add a little to story my making it part of his Ghost mystique( he came back from the dead) and make him realize he has to do dishonorable stuff to win
It's a perfect example of a mediocre game.
The things it does good, it does very good.
The story, art direction and visuals are all top notch. The combat is fine, but it gets to be tedious after a while since all you do is fight the same 5 guys over and over.
I'd give GoT a 6/10 as it is. But if they had made it a linear game instead of a generic open world game, it would have been so much better.
Thanks, thats what i was worried about. Creed combat
I do put a lotta points into style and looking cool more than the average dude, but if its just that easy, coupled with tedious open world bullshit, i dont think ima buy it.
Thanks guys
These guys are haters. It's way better than abything assassins creed could shit shit out
It's because the Japs are obsessed with squeaky clean twink looking metrosexuals.
