How high would you rate Final Fantasy IX among the rest?
For me, it's top 3 at least.

>furfagshit
one of the worst but not as bad as 2, 8, and 15.

On the low end. Battles take far too long for their own good and nothing could make up for it.

>furfag shit
Because one of them has a tail? He's based on Son Wukong you fucking ingrate.

>He's based on Son Wukong

Possibly the top 5 for me, arguably the best game of the PSX era but still nowhere near as good as the classics it pays homage to: the SNES games in particular.

I'm sorry you're too retarded to see the resemblance. At least you show to the world that people that hate FF9 are truly the lowest tiers of intelligence.

Favourite, when it got that backgrounds HD mod I literally farted of happiness

Number 1. 9 and 7 are the only really good FF games. FF6 is merely okay because the combat is generic, and the world is bland (all the towns and caves look almost exactly the same). It is completely outdone by Chrono Trigger in almost every way and Lufia 2 in most ways. FF8 is also okay, but it is ruined by the shitty magic draw system and scaling enemies. The unique setting really helps make it tolerable, though. The rest are just complete garbage not even worth playing.

>A few anthropomorphic animals and a kid with a tail
>"furfagshit"
Stop going on Zig Forums so much, this is pure unadulterated autism. Unless it's overtly a furry game like that whack Goodbye Volcano High bullshit, then who gives a shit. And if the fanbase isn't a bunch of furries, then why does a few animals bother you? Who hurt you as a kid? Nobody calls Crash Bandicoot furfag shit, because 1) it's not and 2) it's fans aren't autistic spergs like the Sonic fandom. This isn't rocket science, smooth-brain.

There's tons of legitimate criticisms you can give to IX: it's a very flawed game. But if some animal characters genuinely ruin the game for you, then that's not the game's doing: you're just mentally ill.

In retrospect, it's a good game. What a big let down after VII and VIII, though.

I'd say VI, VII, VIII and XII are better. Then IX.

I vainly hoped you'd have some kind of developer commentary that supported your statement. Instead you mindlessly shitpost.

Agreed it's far from the best game but it's not bad either. Although I'd also rank IV and V higher than it personally, and I'd rate VIII a tad lower.

>monkey pseudo human cast down from heaven
>on a quest to regain heavenly powers
>can't see the connection
>calls the game furry shit
>accuses others of shitposting
Special kind of retarded.

>>furfagshit
Your playing the wrong series. This is fantasy where anthro creatures are common place.
All three of those worst games you listed, have no anthro characters, by the way.

Top 3 for me as well, together with Tactics and Crystal Chronicles

Everything except the combat is good, not only are the battles the slowest they've ever been but they have no strategy and quickly devolve into spamming frog drop and dragons crest and nothing else.

Trance is a joke

even FFXIII combat is better

It's my favorite game. It was the first game I ever played(until then my brother would only let me watch him play on PC). Can't stand the look of other FFs. The others are too anime, FFXIV included. And their writing is shit. The "ooh" and "aah" noises characters make in FFVII remake encapsulate this wiritng. Only good part of FFXIV was heavensward, couldn't get past stromblood. FFIX is perfection.
Other jrpgs I enjoyed are: ni no kuni, persona 3 and 4

What are you even talking about? I have never used these abilities once and I've played FF9 at least 5 times. If you are complaining that there is an obscure OP ability that makes the game easier then you will hate every single FF and most RPGs. Who plays these games for the combat anyway? It's pretty mediocre in all of them

its by far the best one

Top 2.

>even FFXIII combat is better
You make it sound like it was ever bad.

The whole game is combat and walking, the most optimum strategy is to spam dragons crest as it cost 16MP, or frog drop for 8MP and does max damage, neither have any degree of strategy, there is no point to doing anything else, 8 suffers from renzokuken spam but the junction mechanic has nuance and can be applied cleverly, 7 has mime and omnislash but requires setting up, 10 has zanmato but cost, 12 and 13 do not have completely braindead combat and i know it's ironic to say that

>Has played FFIX at least 5 times
>Has never heard of Frog Drop or Dragon Crest
Did you just never use Quina or Freya then? Because I find it incredibly hard to believe that you didn't touch them or know about two of the most OP moves in the game after 5 playthroughs. Although I do agree with you that this is a total non-issue in this series, given that every entry has OP bullshit.

If you love FFIX try out Last Story

Best JRPG ever made, hands down.

It's the best FF

I will try that, thanks user

it's my favourite, i only played 8 and 10 though

Part 1/2:

I consider IX a bad game on average. It's also the only FF that baffles me to no end. Every aspect of the game is simultaneously great, terrible and boring or just bad. With a game such as X-2 I can concentrate on battles and have fun, but with IX, unlike any entry in the series, everything is simultaneously good and bad, so there's no safe haven so to speak.

Battles are tactical but slow and boring. Trance is horrendous. Level up system is fucked beyond belief (hidden stat gains and equipment abilities in general) but offers ways to customize your playthroughs yet the differences are very minor at the end of the day. By the way did we really need two summoner/white mage hybrids with only this many characters?

Speaking of characters, they are really reused stock, unlikable, boring, depthless and sometimes even forgotten. Vivi, Beatrix, Brahne, Mikoto and Garland are exceptions (and the latter two only barely). I also especially despise Tifa 3.0, I mean Garnet, but to her credit she actually does something of her own volition in the story unlike characters in later games.

Ah, the story. It's very boring and situated in a seemingly run of the mill fantasy setting, until disc 3 anyway. Everything is way too safe and the game's identity suffers for its throwbacks. The story and atmosphere are way too dramatic and serious (I don't like this aspect of IV, IX, X, XII and XIII) making the game lack fun. A little playfulness is present, but the game just isn't fun to play as a video game. The side activities aren't fun minigames like let's say snowboarding to take a break from the game, rather they are tedious busywork like all FFs at the time. Cid stealing the key and Vivi jumping rope casually are enjoyable.

Part 2/2:

On the good side the setting is the most fleshed out and depressingly atmospheric in the series making it worth experiencing. There are lots of different kind of people to talk to, and while none of them change that much, they make the world feel very much alive. The game has a lot of charm. The soundtrack while unadventurous and unexciting is very comfortable to listen to.

As I said the game utterly bores me, but I consider Memoria to be the best part of the game, if only because it doesn't belong at all. It's perfect though, it made me think that the rampant nostalgia wasn't a cynical cashgrap attempt, but instead a part of the theme of memories. I consider Memoria the final dungeon of the entire franchise and therefore IX a must play entry.

low

One of the worst games in the series.
