Where were you when New Blood and 3D Realms save immersive sims?
>inb4 not a real genre
Stop being pleb.

These boomer pandering games can be pretty generic but at the end of the day they end up being fun games, and most of them cheap too.

Honestly, this is by far one of the best games I've ever played the Demo of. This game is literally exactly what all the elitist fags on Zig Forums always cry about, no hand-holding, god-tier atmosphere, cool looking enemies. Simple but refined gameplay, it didn't take long at all to learn some tricks such as the falling stab into water. Stealth is simple, yet hard (AKA GOOD). It's tense as fuck with no immersion breaking elements and just enough leeway in how many mistakes you can make to keep the tension going. My only hope is that the entire game is as good as the Demo.

I just hope Graven has magic spells that are combat oriented. The lightning spell seems to be specifically for stunning and the flamethrower spell seemed to do fuck all from the previews.

>combat oriented
Or focused on dealing damage, rather.

The only reason I don't like Gloomwood is cause I'm a salty manchild and I'm upset someone beat me to ripping off Thief for their indie game. I'm still going to keep going with the project though, cause it's not like anyone was going to play my shit game anyway. Gloomwood looks and feels good, more immersive sim than Thief, what with the guns and all, but it's one of the games I'm genuinely excited to play.

Hedon and Maximum Action are $7 and $7.50, respectively. Can anyone recommend those?

Keep going user. Use their dev updates to steal good ideas.

Unironically what I've been doing yeah, lmao. Got sound propagation working nicely, as well as visibility based on light. I'm aiming for more of a low fantasy setting, closer to Thief as well.

>Falling Stab into water
excuse me?

Thief without guns sure. Bloodborne with sneaking better.

Is Graven meant to be an immersive sim? I thought it was a linear shooter with some mild variety, unlike the other games I don't see "immersive sim" in the tags or anywhere in the description.
Thanks for pointing out Core Decay, it looks really neat.

WTF

You better not be trying to pull a fast one on me like Prey, I will give it a try in time.

>it has to look like shit for nostalgia or it won't be good

whatever happened to just making a good game.

reminder that Gloomwood is going to be an early access title and won't be out for ages yet

>whatever happened to just making a good game.
They've just started doing that for the first time in decades.

it was pretty good, liked ROTT and Strife getting some love again.

Yes, I enjoyed both.

Don't give up a shit ton of indie games rip off classics and most of them still lack what the original had.

I wasn't sure either but there's a 12 minute demo video here
youtube.com/watch?v=YMUi-slp13c
where the devs describe it as an immersive sim early on in the video. Kind of reminds me of Dark Messiah so far.

Sweet, thanks

>"immersive sim"
kys gaylord

nice, i'll have something to play on my intel hd laptop while im at work now

>immersive sims
I'm sick of having to say this again and again, but by definition the correct term is Advanced Underworld Type Interactive Sim, Interactivity is the goal, not immersion.

based

We called such games action-rpgs back in the day.
t. actual boomer.

I hope Gloomwood has talking NPCs. That was the one thing that was really lacking in the demo. The game was immersive, but not quite Thief immersive.

Gloomwood feels too much a Unity game

we had to hire 10 guys to draw hd textures for horse balls so there was no budget left for the actual game

BOOMERS OUR TIME HAS COME

>immersive sim
>the dialogues are not voiced
immersion ruined
