Was I filtered or was 3-5 the worst 5th case of the series. 2-5 set the bar too high
You play as Kayayyyday for about 30-40 mins,and its refreshing to experience the characters you already talked to from another point of view because everyone reacts to Shuichi differently than they do to her, its like Divinity 2 where talking as different preset characters gives different dialogue.
Its hilarious that Shuichi hides his Ahoge until Kaede dies, as the ahoge is pretty much the sign that they are the Protag.
If the game made you care about her in the small amount of time you play her, then they succeeded, If its a shit game, then it wouldnt have made you seethe so much, they pulled off what Cuckmann fucked up massively.

The problem is that it only leaves you with at best 3 logical options for the killer, being Kaito, Kokichi, or Maki. The real problem I have is that Shuichi doesn't argue that the poison could have technically killed Kokichi before the press, thus creating a situation where since monokuma can't confirm the true cause of death the case would be invalid. Unfortunately it just ends with Shuichi lying like a dumbass after spelling out the whole case and Kaito blowing his cover.
1-5 was great in that it was a mystery that couldn't be solved due to it being bait, and ending with the fake out death scene making it much more memorable. 2-5 was great in that it was literally impossible to figure out without believing in literal RNG like Nagito wanted. 3-5 just plays out exactly how you expect it to in the first place, except the game tried to dodge around it for hours.

If we started as Shuichi, and then switched to Kaede, I think it would have worked a lot better,
It's really neat because not only does it catch players off guard by having the protagonist fucking die, it allows the true protagonist to get proper character development.

If I had to guess it would either be because they're pussies who hate having their nice, easy worldview shaken, or because they only played the demo and just wrote their entire V3 review based off of that and the promotional material assuming that Kaede was the protagonist for they whole game.

We just had 2 games with guys as protagonists, having the 3rd game with a chick would have been refreshing.
3-5 would have been much better if it had ended the way Kokichi wanted it to, with the 6th chapter being Monokuma and Tsumugi desperately trying to get things back on track.
Assuming there is a Dangan 4 (I imagine it would have a new writer, and chunsoft won't be releasing this cashcow), it had better unironically have a female protag after screwing over Kaede like that.
