I haven't played it because the Shepard I created in ME1 looks like shit in ME3.

It's Kino for the most part. There are a few things here and there that don't work and the ending sucks. The free Extended Cut DLC helped but the ending is still bad. I think a lot of people got a bad taste in their mouth when the last thing they experienced was shit. But for the majority of the time the game is incredible.

I liked every part of ME3 BUT the ending, and yes the ending was trash, that doesn't magically make everything else terrible.

Meh, I think everything before the ending isn't as good as people say but the issues started with ME2.

Me2 felt like filler in between the real stories of me1 and me3, especially with the collectors

It is legit kino until the ending. The ending is so bad that it reverses everything good about the game, that's how fucking bad the ending is.

Yeah, that's basically what I mean. ME3 was simply rushed of course, and I don't intend to downplay it's own issues but I think they would've been less severe if BioWare had actually set out to create a trilogy from the start instead of only pretending they did.

Ending was unforgivable, I'm still mad. Seems to be the one thing Zig Forums refuses to be contrarian about too.

No one is denying the ending was shit, and the "uncut" DLC didn't do much to fix it. It's the rest of the game that we're torn on.

Honestly the worst I can describe it as in inconsistent. I think the combat is really fun (I played a lot of the MP as well) and there's some great moments in there. Rannoch and such are pretty good. At the same time you have stinky doodoo parts like Kai Leng. Game really should've gotten another year or two I think, but it's by no means terrible.

What I don't understand is why people got so triggered by the shitty story/ending when ME2 had an underwhelming story that completely sidelined the reapers for some retarded shitty plot? Yeah, Kai Leng is another universal sore spot, but mostly because of the weird ninja motif and less his actual antagonistic character. I've heard that was a decision that was forced on BioWare by EA for some insane dogfuck reason. Apparently they think you can't have AAA without swords?

He has some more dialogue with Liara on Thessia, but other than that I don't see anything would be lost from removing him from the story.
I would have like it better if there was a whole quest surrounding him like Kasumi and Zaeed in 2.

Same, playing new vegas with the hunting shotgun + choke mod was extremely refreshing. My country is very anti-gun so I can only have shotguns/hunting rifles and it triggered the fuck out of me when games don't get shotguns right, well, even less right than other weapons

The story was disappointing but it had the best gameplay, except for the shitty side quest system.

The game itself addresses that, and most everyone but the two warmongering maniac quarians agree that it's a terrible idea. Honestly, the one quarian admiral voiced by Morrigan was the most confusing character for me and not in a good, compelling way. She was apparently some kind of tech genius but also a psychopath who just wanted to torture geth and build guns from their reverse engineered guts? Who would fucking follow this woman?!
