Game is already playable, is in the stage of bug tests and some fixes.
Marketing and divulgation will start from January, new trailer will come out at the end of september.
Some details about the plot and gameplay:
- Ethan, Chris and Pepita will be the playable characters. Each of one focused on specific skills.
- Enemies are based on European and Celtic folklore. Fauns, Werewolves, Melusines... there is a gigantic boss which appears to be a huge Balor (Demon-like creature).
- Despite the "fantasy" appearance, the enemies are the result of an infection with a genetic parasite.
- Those infected are residents of the village, called Borjia. The village is based in the city of Prahova, in Romania.
- The main villain of the game has not yet been revealed in the trailers and past information. He is an heir to the Spencer family, already known for the first games of the franchise.
- Resident Evil Village will be the last main game in the franchise, with iconic characters returning for a last "goodbye". Capcom's plan is to reboot the series, changing the whole story for a renovation.

Reboot the series as in entirely new cast or keeping the characters but making things a little more serious and grounded? A big part of RE's appeal is that I grew up with the characters, and these new ones just aren't the same.
The unique japanese feel of the series is being taken over by more western ideals and I don't like it, but it seems to me that's what new fans want.

Isnt VII, remake 2, remake3 and VIII a pseudo reboot? And why do they need to reboot the series anyways? The game grew so much that you could make standalone games in the same universe without having to even mention previous entries just like Re7.

This would've worked if it were the 6th game in the series (VI) and only the corresponding letters were highlighted.
They forced the whole thing by deciding to highlight VIII, then realised they'd have to alter the two L letters, but instead of figuring out a visual solution they went full retard and now you've got VII.I. and it looks like horseshit and anyone seeing it for the first time is left scratching their head.

Re4 is one of my all time favourites but it nailed the coffin shot as far as the series returning to "normal" or saving itself from doom goes.
We are getting currency, which leads me to believe there will be a merchant, which leads me to believe there will be a greater weapon variety and upgrades included for those weapons, which leads me to believe action kino might be back on the menu.
