It's the speedrunners weapon of choice so i guess it's god tier somehow. It's probably because it's really fast when in the base form and you can spam the unleashing attack a lot which does good damage. The extended form on it's own seems fucking shit though, from my experience at least.

L1 spam builds beasthood super fast which lets you trivialise early bosses with pellet + paper. Plus it's just fun to swing and has no weaknesses.

none of these makes sense. Drake sword is notorious because it demolishes everything early game and then falls off hard, making it a noob trap

I never got this, you can easily use it the whole game.

you can also use your fists while naked, that doesn't make them good. every single weapon with scaling is superior to the drake sword around mid to late game

It only "falls off" due to it being slightly to upgrade and not scaling. Nevermind that everyone and their mother went crazy over lightning weapons back in the day which also didn't scale, and updates haven't really shaken that paradigm enough to matter.

I'm glad at least one other has patrician taste. Truth be told, it wouldn't even need to outclass it so hard for me to prefer it, it both looks far cooler and has a much more fun tricked moveset. It's just icing on the cake that it's better too.

Nigga what. The saw cleaver and saw spear are the longswords of the game, they can effectively handle every situation and can work str, skl or arc. None of the game's weapons have bad movesets, the only one that sort of disappoints me is LHB by being a bit basic in its 2h form. The kirkhammer ends up having those annoying sweet spots but makes up for it with the sheer staggering and the hilarious weapon switch attacks it has.

It's a bitch to upgrade and even then caps at 300 damage at +5. Lightning weapons are way easier to upgrade and even the basic ass longsword will outclass it, let alone something like a zweihander.

The Cane does suck, what makes it the patricians choice is you have to git even guder to use it, especially because once its true power is revealed late game you already have Reiterpallasch and Chikage to take its place in everything except Bolt infusion.

My strat is to play through the game til I have enough upgrade materials to get the stake driver to like +7 or 8, and by then you should be able to fuck up the Ashen Hunter or at least be able to tank him long enough to knock him off
