I want to FUCK Luna and Togata.

I like the ne in all star battle where they translate Jolynes 1000 ball throw to HOW DEEP CAN I GO? BALLS DEEP

Do you think Japanese games are devoid of pop culture references and memes? Japanese love that vapid stuff. Most of their comedians are just dudes standing on stage repeating one phrase over and over again. Like "You're a big guy," "For you!" would be a legit comedy act in Japan.

That's kinda hot

kino

>doesn't understand the difference between translation and localization
>thinks translations are better than localizations
You are a moron. If you want to see the difference look at the dialog in FF IX and compare it to FF X. If you still think translation is better just kys.

>official translation gets delayed in a territory because they added a dub
Yeah

>life has many kino's eddboys

Translations are better than localizations. I want to play japanese shit, not what some "localizer" thinks would fit if the game was western.

Weebs aren't ready for that yet.

>Dumb EOP complains about game's translation
>Doesn't provide the original text, or how he would have translated it "correctly"
Every time.

NOOOOO JAPANESE IS A PURE LANGUAGE THAT HAS NO SWEARS, SLANG, OR MEMES

>Like "You're a big guy," "For you!" would be a legit comedy act in Japan.
That's retarded.
There's no way you can convince me repeating lines from a shitty movie for years with minimal adaptations to current events can entertain people for a long period of time.

>for you
Who would laugh at that shit?

Togata's asshole clenching on my dick

Most weebs don't want to accept the truth that the Japanese are memelords. The closest equivalent to weebs and channers over there have none of the revulsion towards normie social media that we have for instance.

Probably depends on if it's replacing a nip meme or unlocalisable cultural reference with western equivalents or if it's replacing a completely normal line for "le funny meme reference" and end up failing with that.

See

>Japanese humor
>It's a play on homophone words
Uff

t. has no understanding of language

RUB-A-DUB-DUB

>original version was also full of memes but the dumb-ESL fan translation didn't pick up on them so people are used to that version and just assume for no reason it's more true to the original

>If you want to see the difference look at the dialog in FF IX and compare it to FF X
the problems with FFX aren't the script, but the voice acting, the voice direction, and an unwillingness to re-animate cutscenes so the lip flaps and timing match the english lines

if it was a silent game like the last 9 games, it would be way less abrasive. most of what tidus says is actually pretty good, he just says it like the biggest retard in the universe so your brain shuts down

>The closest equivalent to weebs and channers over there have none of the revulsion towards normie social media that we have for instance.
you have no idea what you are talking about

>official "translation" uses singular they and other inclusive Tumblr newspeak

Attached: enough.png (832x922, 468.49K)

No, translations fucking awkard. They were basically forced to do it in FF10 because it was the first one with voice acting. They had no idea how to do it properly, and you can tell.

>fan translation adds lots of swearing and explicit references to fucking
>game gets officially translated years later
>dumbfuck boomers get mad over the "censored" original release

Attached: r6s.jpg (720x480, 36.06K)

I've read so many VNs where official translation changes meaning, tone or only approximates the original meaning. It's jarring to see the difference between translated english text and the recorded jp voice line. I switched to playing VNs in jp, even if it means I have to search for meanings of 10% of the words. Only lazy retards stick with translations in the long run.
Sure, sometimes the culture and language barrier is so big that literal translation doesn't work and you have to "localize" it. But most of translators use localization in situations where literal translation works perfectly, because they are lazy and retarded.

>retard on Zig Forums still thinks singular they is a word the libs made up in 2015 and hasn't been proper english and commonly used for the past 100 years

calm down big guy

Was this based or cringe?

Attached: big girl.png (1600x1024, 797.8K)

someone get this hot head outta here

>Singular they
>Newspeak

Based. This is a good meme to include because it will never not be funny.

100% based

nothing more embarassing than people who complain about modern examples of changing content in japanese media but have huge nostalgia over a bunch of stuff that changed tons of shit too. you're either a purist or you arent. I don't care if you played lunar when you were 6 years old and you know more about it than your own asshole.

I love how as soon as localizers are criticized for putting in dumb references that dont fit the cultural context of the original, they suddenly turn into linguists that just want to preserve the intricacies of the original. I know that a 100% accurate translation isnt possible, that doesnt mean that you have to get retarded with translation liberties.

DR is filled with references, See how many Fate shit it has

1500s speak

>"remaster" adds 2015's politcal slant to the dialogue

Japan memes > burger memes
Simple as that. There is literally no game localization of any given language that adds local "memes" where they either belong or don't. It's ALWAYS the US shitting things up for other countries, and when the source for those is the Japanese script the difference in tone is like night and day.
France is an exception but they eat dick so they don't count.

This is your brain on yellow fever

>translation localises a game to the specific region the translators come from and alienates anyone who's not from that region
Fuck localisers and FUCK AMERICANS, I don't know what the fuck a taco is but I sure know what ramen is, just fucking leave it as ramen. Obviously I do know what a taco is but I've never actually seen one IRL while I've eaten tonnes of ramen so the localisation fails.

>here's your "translation", bro

Attached: LeftFantradRightLocalization.png (2428x756, 2.77M)

>but I've never actually seen one IRL
no one gives a shit about people who live in the mountains in africa where you don't see one of the most common food items in the world

>"official" translation adds nothing and just doesn't make any sense

It's very uncommon outside of North America user.

>Japanese comedy

youtu.be/1utN8BWudf0

>As expected of poppa
>weeaboos really think this is acceptable english due to years of reading broken ESL translations

it's really not though

Japanese comedy is either great absurdist stuff that I can't get enough of (Warioware) or complete fucking shit (the meme webms which get spammed here).
Nah, I've been all over the world (not America though) and never seen it

Although to be clear, it's not like those places don't have tacos, of course they do, it's just not common at all so it's easy to never see them unless you're actively searching for Mexican restaurants (which, from what I've heard from Mexicans, are actually Tex-Mex anyway).

Attached: long slugcat is loooooooooooooooong.jpg (629x448, 25.94K)

then you must not eat food because you can find tacos just about anywhere

Eating it maybe, but knowing it? Come on.

lol I'm talking about eating it
thanks to pop culture everyone knows what they are yeah, in the same way I'm sure you know what escargot and frogs legs are

Learn Japanese. Stop relying on trannylators.

To be more specific its Californian liberals shitting everything up, they might aswell be a seperate country at this point.

this shit happened when i was reading pumpkin night

IME the thing which shocks Americans the most is how un-ubiquitous Mexican food is outside of their continent.
