Explain the appeal of VN's to me. They're barely even videogames.

cute girls with cute voices, makes you feel good inside.
I hate IRL women, but I love reading VNs. I get emotionally attached to some of the girls, while I have never been attracted to real females because they're ugly and not cute.
Story
What the fuck do you expect people to answer
>tfw even in dating VN's i get friendzoned
i should just end myself
Why did you play that shit
God I love Aoi
I don't get it either
Why skim through 20 hours of cheesy dialogue just to jerk of to some low quality censored CG porn?
this
>plays literal cuckshit
>expects anyone else to defend THEIR taste
LOL no
You're mistaking VNs for eroges, not all VNs are eroges, see: Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, Umineko, etc
my life is utterly devoid of romance so its how i get my fill
they are like comic books user. except with voices, music, and some light interactivity.
At best, they are like a good book with some choices.
This is all in theory though, because none of the VNs I tried when I was young and curious were any good. The only VN I have tried that I'd recommend is Saya no Uta, because it's focused, short, with a good and interesting premise and OK execution.
There are also some "VN"s that are basically point and click adventures or simulators. Those can be OK.
uh, most of the most popular VNs are all-ages, my dude. A lot of people who read VNs skip the porn, too. It's like 5 minutes in a 70 hour fucking thing.
Don't tell me you watch rated R movies for 45 seconds of tiddy, do you? OH NO NO NO NO
she fucks dogs and niggers
>the only VN I would recommend is the literal most recommended Babby's First VN
well that's not suspect at all
They're stories with art and audio assets.
Sometimes you have branching routes and choices that matter or give you funny BAD/DEAD ENDs
Sometimes you get unholy unions of the above with great gameplay mechanics, and end up with gems like Sengoku Rance
Why would I read hardcore VNs when I figured out I don't like the genre?
Also, there is a reason Saya is recommended to everyone, because it has wide appeal, unlike most VNs.
no, it gets recommended because it's entry level chuuni.
This. That's the correct answer in this thread.
Visual novels are for those who's not intrested in gameplay and want story instead. They're the best kind of medium for those who want stories, even better than books because of interactivity and music it adds.
Another appeal it has how the story is nonlinear. Multiple choices to leaded to many different results, wether good endings or bad ends.
It's just interactive hentai right? Disgusting coomer shit.
>Saya
>wide appeal
yeah, sure, normalfaggot. Better leave the thread, too. Wouldn't want to have to confess extra sins on your weekly Church visit, would you?
> He thinks all VNs have sexual content.
To be fair, that's true if you're just parroting a name you saw in a thread and never actually played it or any other VN yourself
I bought 500$ dac/amp and played VNs on it with Sennheisers HD650. It's amazing how much cuter and alive the girls sound now. I love to lay comfortably on the couch, set the VN to autoread, and just listen to the cute girls. Pure bliss. It's the only thing left in this world that puts a smile on my face. VNs are blessed for the lonely incels like me.
cringe and yikes
In some ways, it's a cool take on Lovecraftian horror from the point of view of a cultist. It's also enough of its own thing to not fall into predictable Lovecraftian tropes. Also, lolis. How is this not appealing to your average Lovecraft/anime fan? It's not like that's a small niche, hence it has wide appeal.
they're like interactive stories
i was a big fan of the early text adventure/interactive fiction games and they feel like an evolution of IF to me. it's also like anime that actually has the time to fully explore characters and plot points; a lot of anime feels rushed.
I'm telling you you are right. Visual novels are interactive hentai cartoons. You should flee now while you still can, Mr. Buzzwords
>finally try out a VN
>stereotypical dating sim shenanigans
>THEN IT GETS REALLY DARK AND SUBVERTS YOUR EXPECTATIONS
>this is almost every hyped up VN
Agreed.
Anime is for the scatterbraindead idiots who don't have the time to read though a VN. One funny thing I noticed after watching anime of Grisaia after reading through VNs is that all the girls talk faster, because episodes have time constraints. It all felt so rushed and unnatural.
>I'm telling you you are right. Visual novels are interactive hentai cartoons.
>Anime adaptation lacks the inner monologues from the Light novel
I am sorry that obvious sarcasm escapes you. Perhaps I should use a /s denotation like on certain other websites.
>Perhaps I should use a /s
That's a thing?
no /s
MIYUKI BETTER!
They're graphic novels with light interactive elements, what's not to get?
There's a lot of people that will enjoy literally anything anime. There is a waifu, they lose all standards.
oh, so it's like Westerners with gay and black people
What do you also need someone to explain the appeal of books? VNs are just books with artwork music and interactivity.
More so. Westerns just use gay and black people to virtue signal but half the time dont support it beyond vocally (because they dont actually like the medium). Weebs literally have no standards if there is waifus in something.
based
Yes, because people on r*ddit are to autistic to infer sarcasm through context clues.
I'll read any VN as long as it's not any shittier than your average book/movie.
And don't forget bad ends too.
This is why anime adaptations of visual novels don't always end up surpassing the source material. Many people who watched Ufotable Fate (just UBW route) thinks Shirou is just a shounen MC and has plot armor, even he though he died so many times in the VN.
who the fuck reads books? it's not 1752 anymore
>pictures
Good
>words
Good
>Pictures and words
NOOOOO YOU HAVE TO ENJOY THOSE THINGS SEPARATELY
