What the fuck was his problem? I don't get it
He keeps doing stupid shit, against his own best interest, and fucking over everyone around him

>He was born a paraplegic, unable to walk because his spine was abnormally shaped, and thus confined to a wheelchair.
>In an interview with The Codec, Christopher Randolph elaborated on Huey's motives, namely that he was acting in self-interest. He also implied that a large degree behind his self-serving actions throughout the game was due to his disability leaving him vulnerable.
>During recording they were very secretive, and it took some probing from Christopher to get some answers about what was going on in the game. “Am I a good guy or a bad guy? What’s happening? […] There’s no right answer to that, actually. And I think that’s actually kind of interesting, because nobody is all good or all bad.” Christopher concluded the answer with these words: “I think it’s very exciting and very dramatic what Huey goes through, and I think it’s going to be really extraordinary. And I really look forward to hearing what people think of it.”
>According to Kojima's notes in the Piggyback Collector's Edition Guide's art gallery, Huey's mechanical legs were intended to give him a contrast to other characters, who often lost either an arm or a leg, even both.
I will never understand how a franchise with such terrible writing and retarded characters gained acclaim for its so called great writing. And no, this shit did not start with MGS4. I'm tired of hearing "B-But MGS1-3 are kino and they were written by Fukushima." They're all fucking stupid. Every one of them. There wasn't a ghostwriter who was actually good at writing behind the first few games. They were just as shit as the later ones, you retards.
>self-serving
but it never worked, the inspection led to the XOF attack and his kidnapping and if it wasn't an attack he'd be detained for breaking the chain of command.
The parasite shit doesn't even begin to make sense.
He intended to develop and test a WMD on the very base he's sitting on, and getting out of DD's base and the parasite to Cipher is a whole other story. The fuck?
consider suicide
I think the point is that Huey is mentally fucked up, that's why those self-serving actions didn't serve him in the end.
All the lying, and the b-b-b-b-b-b-b-but stutters he does, not a sign of a stable mind wouldn't you agree?
He's not some evil mastermind I think, he just does things on impulse, there's a part I noticed in the script where they suggest that his second wife (Julie Whateveringer)is actually an acquaintance of Strangelove, which I think says a lot about the character, yeah?
He's THE ENEMY, AND HE'S HERE ON HIS KNEES
>What the fuck was his problem? I don't get it
He got cucked by his own son.
>retcon
Huey in PEACE WALKER and Phantom Pain are two different people. Dont give me that 'oh the time he spent under Skullface changed him'. Throughout PW at anytime Zero couldve nuked Mother Base and Huey was there giving BB tips against the AI-Weapons. He was loyal as fuck throughout all of BBs struggles against Coldman and Galvez. He stayed behind with Strangelove left. He couldve left with her but stayed. I refuse to believe be made such a prick naturally. Kojima needed someone to be the judas of the saga and chose Huey. Kojima is a straight hack. Look how Kojima retconned Skullface into MGS3 by staying he picked up BBs droppings behind him through Operation Snake Eater. Fuck that.
to followup on my previous comment
>the inspection led to the XOF attack
It seems that's the deal he cut with Skull Face, but the game isn't very clear on it
>GZ SF:The scientist was our way in.
>TPP Skull Face: Listen! I may dwell in the dark, but I refuse to be judged by your standards, traitor.
oh and Miller claims this
>Nine years ago you agreed to the inspection in return for Cipher's guarantee that you'd be spared.
Which might be true, or maybe not, you don't know with Miller.
>He intended to develop and test a WMD on the very base he's sitting on
A cure, he didn't want the outbreak to occur, just a cure as a bargaining chip for Cipher to let him back in.
>Huey: So now you're saying I sabotaged medical equipment for some wild plan to make the vocal cord parasite kill everyone?!
>Ocelot: Or maybe you thought it'd reveal a way to treat the parasite without using the Wolbachia... with that much to barter, I suppose some people would welcome even a pathetic cur like you.
>Huey: Just stop it!
>Ocelot: You'd have no shortage of buyers, but most would be happy with just the parasite. You wouldn't need to offer anything else... however, if that buyer already knew about the parasite, they'd also know that by itself, it's no longer the ultimate bargaining chip it once was. To sell to that buyer you'd need to throw in a bonus; a way to one-up it. There's only one buyer who'd be after that.
>Huey: [stammers nervously]
Even though Ocelot is biased against Huey, Huey just doesn't deny whatever Ocelot is saying, and just asks him to stop it, I'd assume because Ocelot's right about what he's saying, but when it comes to Huey's arc it really doesn't matter whether he did whatever intently or just stumbled and fucked up everything and everyone including himself.
>・The Wolbachia mutation (Huey switching allegiance to Cipher) [tp_m_10190_03]
Guess you would've liked Huey as Ishmael (as was the initial plan in 2011 before the Avatar thing).
Huey as Ishmael
no i would not. i just hated how kojima fucked over hueys character. what was the drive for huey to betray BB during the inspection? skullface giving him what he had already? infinite funding to make more machines? he had it already on motherbase.
>Fuck Fast Slowman, I'm done making weapons!
>btw Snake, I've just put together some blueprints for a new giant weaponized AI weapon ;)
Huey was always an opportunist. He'll happily backstab whoever he's working for as long as the the new party is offering to let him build his giant robots.
Some people are just like that.Writing has
>A cure, he didn't want the outbreak to occur, just a cure as a bargaining chip for Cipher to let him back in.
Wait, I thought the idea behind the mutation was just to find a way to bypass the wolbachia solution, not find an alternative cure. I don't remember that being mentioned at all.
Maybe guaranteeing his crush Strangelove's safety?
>Kazuhira Miller: Dr. Strangelove's departure came at a perfect time. The less ZEKE-related staff here the better.
>Big Boss: Wait, she left?
>Kazuhira Miller: That's right, you were away on a mission. She left last week. There's nothing cooking in AI weapons research, and ZEKE is complete. There was really no reason for her to hang around.
>Big Boss: I'm surprised Huey let her go that easy.
>Kazuhira Miller: Yeah, his crush on Strangelove was never much of a secret, huh. He followed her everywhere while ZEKE was in development. Boy, would she get pissed. But he does have a lot on his mind right now. "I've got bigger issues to deal with"... That's what he said.
>Big Boss: That's the spirit, Huey.
Discord trannies probably got the GZ script too, we would've known if that's what they were alluding to in this cassette tape, but I'm throwing out maybes.
Yes exactly, an alternative cure, that he would use to convince Cipher to let him in. Or something
now that I think about it, what the fuck does Huey have to do with biological shit? Is he really that desperate? Or KojiPro just wanted an excuse to get him off DD? No wonder he fucked up.
Wrong, 1-3 taken altogether tell an absolutely perfect stroy arc. It's true the writing descends into chaos at times but this really just adds to things up until 4 starts jumping the shark again and again and never stops.
There's just a charming quality about them, and you can't help but care about what the characters are going through.
>doesn't understand that opinions are subjective
Why is this place so full of retards is the American education system this bad?
>Kojima retconned Skullface into MGS3
This was so fucking pointless, the entire point of BB’s mission was that he was there, alone. Anyone else going with him would have just made the mission more likely to fail.
>opinions are subjective
They're also subjects to evaluation and debate.
What were you even trying to convey with that post?
That there's so objective truth?
That "subjectivity" gives some sort of validity?
You might have as well written;
>everyone has their own opinion
Why is this place so full of retards is the muttland education system this bad?
That there's no objective truth?*
*That there's no objective truth?
My god I can be retarded sometimes as well.
Big Boss made the right call letting him go.
To live in shame is worse than death. He killed Strangelove and betrayed the only family that ever gave a damn about him. This is why Kaz annoys the fuck outta me in TPP. Big Boss wasn't showing Huey mercy by letting him live.
> Spineless character literally has a damaged spine
Bravo Kojimbo
Duplicity and lying is a huge theme in MGS overall. You're not supposed to find the concrete answer to what Huey did but just realize that he's a lying smarmy asshole.
In fact almost every character in the game somehow obfuscate, lies or hides information.
I mean, you're not wrong. Ocelot being one of the most iconic characters says it all.
Is there any proof he wasn't lying
>What the fuck was his problem?
Character assassination.
what the absolute fuck.
it all makes sense now.
>im14andthisissoooodeeep
name a worse fanbase... next.
There's plenty of writing and themes in MGS that I really enjoy, but I definitely get the sense that sometimes they ask children to write the lore when they can't be bothered to do so.
>Huey's mechanical legs were intended to give him a contrast to other characters, who often lost either an arm or a leg, even both.
I've noticed that nip anime/manga and game directors love lopping off characters' limbs for some reason.
Where is it in that post, I claimed that this game (or any MGS game) is deep.
I'm simply quoting, because I think they are relevant quotes to the discussion of what is ultimately a simple arc. (Gamer standards)
>but just realize that he's a lying smarmy asshole.
Yes agreed, though I have to point out that the script seems to say that he 100% did those things, but again it doesn't really matter whether he did or not.
