There's already a ton of legacy decks that can pull off turn 1 kills even with out that card.

Magic has adopted yugiohs ban approach.

The best thing that could happen to mtg is the sunset on intellectual property resulting in its emergence into public domain so that no company can make money off it anymore.

I don't see how anyone can play yugioh for too long. Every deck is tribal so there's no variety. Every deck feels like it's playing a long game of solitaire. Games have gotten so fast that one of the three card types, traps, have become obslete unless it has special rulings that allow it to behave in completly different ways then what it means to be a trap card.

Its like magic if the entire game was Urza's block, but with wordier cards

I haven't touched Yugioh in over a decade. Apparently normal summoning is pleb shit? The game obviously has a seriously problem with mechanics creep.
At this point, I would only bother playing again if they drop all of the new crap and kind of go back to basics. Maybe beef up the core mechanics so atk and def are actual factors.

The art is cool but it pretty clearly shows that they're going to continue doing these crossovers with their other IP's. Next year there's a dungeons and dragons set that will be standard.
