Is it safe to say that gaming "journalism" is dead, or possibly never had an organic existence? What in the hell do you even say about a headline like this? This is far more damning than anything "Gamer Gate" or the Five Guys bullshit ever exposed about these faggots. Because at least with that you could say they were simply giving a one time good review for pussy, and had the decency to lie about their experience. Here, it's simply praise for marketing hype. Ill defined and impossible to extrapolate marketing at that! A fucking commercial!

With everything gaming related whether you take weeks or years I believe that there was some merit and value to it. However as it gets more mainstream (and more dumbed down) it loses any value. This is another example as you posted

They're low quality, but this is just sad. I didn't even intend to look this up. It simply came up while I was browsing vintage gaming list articles in one of those wiki ads. Also, how far can the value of a form entertainment be lowered until it's essentially worthless? If its industry dies, then does that mean we'll see a neo gaming scene born from the ashes!?

Sorry this was meant for

>Also, how far can the value of a form entertainment be lowered until it's essentially worthless?
I don't dare to say because I feel like it is very subjective. If you look at idiots on this board they say gaming is dead blablabla but I think there are good games still but the majority is very copy and pasted, and I think AAA games have no value.
>a neo gaming scene born from the ashes
Funnily enough I actually think this is what will happen. To combine both points: The value will be lowered so much that even the average joe with dents in their head will realize that mainstream gaming has become a boring moneysink and after that developers will adjust to the market and make actual games or people will make their own (which is already happening with indie).

Game journalists didn't become game journalists because they like games. Nobody goes to school for journalism to be a game journalist. No, game journalists are just failed real journalists, which is why they suck so fucking much.

meanwhile most touhou poster on Zig Forums never played touhou game

Gaming journalism lost all credibility when Driv3r was the first reported case of paid reviews.

Also, GamerGate should have won.

>I think AAA games have no value
american tripleA has been dead since shortly after ps4 launched.
It's nothing but live service skinner boxes or oscar bait movie games.
Aside from some miracle like Doom and the first wolfenstein reboot (before it too shat the bed) it's all soulless sanitized advertiser friendly garbage aimed at the lowest common denominator.
And i wouldn't mind soulless cashgrabs, but the problem is that's all that american tripleA is right now.
At least hollywood among the heaps of shit there still are good high budget movies, but good high budget games are like catching a lightning in a bottle

By far the best scenario.

But, you can't even call what I posted as journalism. It's not even on par with an infomercial. It's something that an actual marketing representative for the company should be embarrassed to say. You should want people to try your product and love it for itself, rather than try to hype off your commercials. This guy is such a pathetic shill he's actually saying substanceless promotional material is enough of a reason to purchase a game.

>At least hollywood among the heaps of shit there still are good high budget movies, but good high budget games are like catching a lightning in a bottle
This exact thing has been on my mind for a couple days, among movies, shows, cartoons or any form of entertainment there will always be good outliers but gaming just doesnt have that.
>Aside from some miracle like Doom
I never played it so I won't comment but it does look fun and not like a cashgrab.

>Also, GamerGate should have won.
It kind of did.

>It kind of did.
Does winning means getting more unfinished rushed games /cinematic walking simulators at full price with day 1 dlc and microtransactions , just with more trannies and nogs ?

No, but that wasn't the point now, was it? It was exposing game's media as being nothing more than glorified ad agencies, and it succeeded. Public reception of game publishers has tanked, and isn't looking to recover anytime soon. Also, people are more concerned by peer reviews than professionals nowadays.

And the game media is still influential when it comes to firing devs for bad opinions, forcing game companies to casualize a game series, forcing diversity and other nonsense into gaming talks. They were the first to suggest the 70 dollar price trag, and now Snoy is making all ps5 exclusives and even some multiplats cost 10 dollars more. These morons still have power and influence. They forced the devs at 3drealms to change a fucking soap in Ion Fury bcs it was offensive.
And Zoe still got big bucks and good relations after the 5 shit and even after forcing a guy to sepuku

Why does the lizard in the gif remind me of Gramps from Xenoblade 2

Real “journalists” tend to be trash too, but I guess it might be more obvious with games as they are completely ignorant of the subject matter

I think you're blaming the donkey for what the driver does. It's not "influential." It's being told what to say and do. It's simply the verbalization of Publisher's propaganda IE the kikes. Also, Zoe has to be careful where she goes because people have said they'll kill her ass if they see her. She's even gone dark since causing that dumb ass to kill himself.

Wow. I should have finished my degree in English so I could write garbage game journalism articles and get paid to be an idiot.

>paid
It's not worth it. You'd make more money editing people's term papers for them on Five Dollar Tasks or whatever the fuck it's called.

Dont EVER link directly to kotaku

the only genuinely great gaming journalist is Richard Lewis

Ever heard about gamergate?

Why are you crying about a random clickbait article from over a year ago? Jesus Christ you're autistic.

>get a guy to commit suicide
>get invited to speak at the United Nations
The modern world, everyone.

I'm not the one that made this thread, lol. Even if I was trying I couldn't be more pathetic than you.
