Games are very different from books and movies in how they will let you know how a game is going to be.

The moment you start controlling a character gives you a huge indication on how it will handle.

I have definitely not enjoyed games but later did, none at a 20 hour mark but still, some games do need time. There's nothing wrong however with disliking the first two hours of a game and writing it off though, games need good pacing.

Hardcore gamers playing long ass hours will tell you why its shit and will harass developers to fix it.
Proper pacing is also key.

Books and movies are motivated by story and plot development and all of it might have been worth it by the time you reach the final act.
Shawshank Redemption for example is one of those movies. It's boring prison shlock for most of it but the ending totally makes up for it.

Video games aren't like this. It's about the gameplay. If the game sucks during the first hour it's probably gonna suck 20 hours in as well.
