Most of people with a vocal opinion on the quality of the d-pad actually don't give a crap about the D-pad and just want to praise the d-pad of whatever console manufacturer they're rooting for. Prove me wrong.
The only people that care are fighting game fantatics because of 180/360 degrees circular inputs that need to happen, including diagonal input. And guess what:
- all modern console's d-pad's do that just fine
- regardless, most fighting game fanatics will go for a custom controller anyway.
So next time you see someone go on a rant on the quality of the d-pad of the nintendo/sony/microsoft console, you can instantly discard their opinion, because you can be 98% sure that he actually doesn't give a rat's ass about his d-pad.

The best D-Pads I've ever used are on the DS/3DS because I like the way they click
I don't like other D-Pads because they're too "squishy" or are in an awkward position because of the sticks

Or any 2d game

I actually like d-pads for platformers and 2ds action games like contra.
>Play contra 3 on hacked 3ds
>Need to duck under bullet
>Character walks right instead of ducking
>Get hit by the bullet
Things that doesnt happen on the d-pad

Do you even play old or 2d games?

Xbox One has the best dpad of all time and it's not even one of my favorite consoles

t. didn't play any retro consoles

op is saying the truth, because theres so many 8bitdo shills who say that their controllers have good dpads, but in reality they are worse than all the others on the market

Xbox 360-one and nintendo pro controllers are worse. Dualshock is better but it's small and the battery is bad.

Please, tell us all about how much better you think saturn/snes controllers are

Have you ever used a 360 controller

Can
t say anything about the saturn one, but the md gamepad is one of the best for old games. Snes is also good but md was better imo. You spitting memes and buzzwords doesn't retrospectively make it not true. 8bitdo has only two good gamepads by the way — sn 30 pro plus and m30. Sn30 pro plus is a good everyday gamepad overall but the plastic is rather cheap. I usually play with either it or xbone controller. Don't care about your console wars.

GOD FUCKING DAMN IT ZOOM ZOOM, GET OUT OF THIS SITE

>cope, the post

Based. Analogue stick placement is 10 times more important.

Get with the times, should've posted a wojack.

This
I formed my opinion on dpads by owning a lot of controllers and actually playing 2D games with them

Attached: 1599020084033.png (700x440, 150.29K)

I have this controller. The dpad is overrated, it has a massive issue of sometimes getting stuck when pressing a diagonal, the circle pad will get nudged inside the plastic cut. It's also hard to tell if you're pressing a diagonal or pressing a cross direction because it doesn't provide you any physical feedback. Basically this controller is a piece of garbage.

Imagine using a controller for any game where aiming or camera control is important enough for that to be a real issue

>the circle pad will get nudged inside the plastic cut
But it doesn't even go inside. Neither in this or og controller.

Basically every character action/hack and slash games?

I love how they simultanously want to call me a zoomer and berate me for not using a wojack.
We all know what people pretending d-pads are a big deal look like. You can see them on major gaming events and they look and smell just like you'd imagine.

So in few words what you're saying is people must go for an inferior product?

>pretending d-pads are a big deal
Are sticks a big deal?

Still waiting on the perfect controller....

I'm sure as hell not going around pretending that [toy A] has superior sticks to [toy B], though they handle both just fine, nor am I going to pretend nintendo's first analog stick was better than what sony and ms are doing now.

You didn't answer the question about you playing old and 2d games btw. Why?

Alright. Yes. I played a lot of them as a kid. And I still play them as an adult on modern controllers. Now what?

Some part of it does. The bottom left position, try tilting it like in the pic and it will get stuck.

I can see from here that something is wrong with the dpad in general. Mine works, but I had a shitty experience with a regular sn 30 pro. Both the dpad and sticks were bad. I've read that they upped the quality with the release of sn 30 pro plus and I have no problems with it, but I can't say for sure.
