Why did it flopped so hard?? What happened to game changing VR revolution they promised us bros?
Why did it flopped so hard?? What happened to game changing VR revolution they promised us bros?
i mean it looks like a super fun VR game.
the issue was it's a VR game
VR games can never compete with real games. Until a way to move freely within a level is achieved, VR will be nothing but tech demos. HLA is easily the best of them, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just not that fun compared to a regular game.
As well, it BARELY progressed the half life timeline. And what it did add to the story was honestly bad.
>retconned Eli’s death
>Gman fires gordon and hires Alyx (which makes no fucking sense with the current timeline)
>Gman was somehow able to be caught by combine, which is stupid
So it’s basically a half life tech demo that makes very questionable changes to the lore
VR is inherently bad
VR is for tech enthusiasts and programmers first, game designers second. Devs are at the stage of experimenting and improving the tech in general, not making games on the level of complexity or ambition of conventional ones.
Highest selling vr game ever
>flop
kike
>why did it flopped so hard??
>sold over a million
>in the top 10 highest rated games on steam
cope harder VRlet
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IM A POOR SUBHUMAN 3RD WORLDER AND I CANT AFFORD VR SO YOU GUYS ARENT ALLOWED TO EITHER
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT BUY IT I DONT WANT TO BE LEFT BEHIND
VR is a shitty gimick like mobile games, valve was just following trends and had no interest in doing anything groundbreaking like the old valve
It wasn't a flop. What the fuck are you talking about?
Generally speaking, woke media with female or non-white protagonists don't do very well in the West. Generally speaking that is. Look at new Star Wars vs. old Star Wars as an example.
One major problem with HL Alyx was that the game's target audience was Western white men and the game forced them to play as an independent black woman.
is reaction guys the oldest meme that still gets stuff next to loss
VR has always been a shitty fad gimmick, anyone with two working brain cells could tell that it would flop.
People come home tired from work and just want to sit and relax, having to keep that uncomfortable thing on your head and having to move to play turn playing games into a chore rather than a relaxing moment.
>Why did it flopped so hard?
Uhh it didn't, it's still my GOTY. It's praised by critics and users alike for best VR game and has an active modding scene. Instead of saying "Why did it flopped so hard??" maybe tell yourself "Why am I so poor that I'm completely outside the VR scene's sphere of influence to form a real opinion?"
>VR is j-just a g-gimmick like the fastest growing and biggest market for bideo gaems, valve was j-just following trends and giving p-people what they w-wanted
I doubt that was the main reason. Alyx is an established character in the series that most fans would see no issue playing, partly due to being better written than 'independent black woman'.
You played as an acrobatic long-legged big tiddied woman in Tomb Raider and it was one of the best selling games of it's time and became a cultural phenomenom. Back then games were primarily marketed to white males.
I miss when white males were still the target audience, video games were unpopular and the internet was a wild west frontier nobody put their personal information on.
What? Alyx was a huge success and didn't flop.
I'm having a great time playing it.
People are right when they say 'Don't play HL Alyx before you play other similar VR games because they won't have the same quality."
VR is inherently limited. The combination of a stereoscopic display and motion tracking for the head and hands is fucking awkward as soon as you want to, you know, walk around. The current VR setup is only good for cockpit style game design or on-rails lightgun shooter shit. VR controls are unsolvable until you can walk.
but you can walk just fine.
its a thousand times better than walking around by pressing W on a keyboard.
people already get immersed in flatscreen games. you are baiting or genuinely retarded.
I sure do love “walking forward” by pressing a button to teleport to another position in the world
based retardposter
good bait has some semblance of suspension of disbelief user, you should work on it
Unless you have some kind of 50 000 dollar room sized omni-directional treadmill, no it is not "fine". You know, I don't even hate VR. I've tried it, the demo that I played was alright for presentation purposes but the physical interface is limited. I want to be able to walk forward, properly with big fucking steps, forever. And I'm not even getting into more complicated movements like climbing.
>why did it flopped
I don't care if you're speaking Portuguese or Sweidish, but you ESL niggers need to learn to conjugate verbs in English or get the fuck off of English speaking boards. Everything that comes out of your mind will sound retarded until you fix this. Fuck off.
>Sweidish
lmao
?
Oculus Quest 2 is $300.
You poorfags should be able to afford it now.
user people many times smarter than you have already been upon the "problem" for years.
you can look it up, you dont need a huge warehouse or some treadmill, you just need to not be a subhuman and have one (1) small empty room.
testing some demo at an expo isnt even close to the actual experience when its correctly configured and you do it in your home, I did the same thing at an expo in 2016 and wasnt impressed at the time either.
How in the hell would I be able to walk infinitely in one direction, if the tech translated my actual walking motions into the game? I'd hit a wall after 4-5 steps.
look it up before running your mouth user
its a thing and im not gonna start copy pasting an entire essay on the subject
you only need a few meters^2 of space and the program will handle the rest
not him but, engilsh is a fucking cancer like weaponized language and nobody should speak or write it correctly, and you are a fucking mutt, niggers are allreadey degenerating your shit language and your shit genes so fuck, and kys and take your cancer with you.
Analog stick movement is fine. The problem is touchpad movement and teleportation garbage, which was Valve's idea.
When you design a game with the assumption that even 25% of the userbase (people who physically cannot ever get over motion sickness) is going to be using teleports, game balance is completely fucked.
The reliance on "tacticool reloads" as an excuse for why VR needs 2 hand tracked controllers is another big issue. It slows down combat immensely for the sake of "immersion", which doesn't exist anyway because reloading in VR is jank as fuck like all physics interactions.
It also means you can't do important stuff like VR gun stocks well, or gun shaped controllers.
Indexes are still in backlog, and Alyx was very well received. It was a damn good game to boot. Workshop content is growing as well, some of it of a high quality. The game did very well.
Have you ever played vr-games? That's not how walking in VR works.
Seethe each time you use our great and global language.
The game sold well and had good gameplay, but as a Half-Life game it is utterly horrible. Valve fucked it up by having that reddit fag write the game.
This
Either get a severely gimped exp on PS4 or shed out >$2k for a VR set + gaming PC to play that one exclusive on the VR headset no-one else is developing for.
its not your language you nigger mutt, its from great britain and you have defiled it and degenerated it to nigger language.
>playing HL for the story
Do you also eat soup for the spoon?
The game played fine, the problem was that it was too safe. Valve should've at least risked a HLA:MP, I'd love to run around bursting people down and hunting upgrade stations with their resin. But everything now has to be E-sports ready, we'd never get a HL2:MP again.
Do you understand timezones? These are not American hours you imbecile. You are speaking to an Englishman.
