I've worked for Japanese devs, the video is somewhat misleading.

Japanese devs are really work intensive. Overtime is expected and you won't get paid for it. Even if you have nothing to do and are just sitting around. But most of the time, Nip devs expect you to work as hard as possible 100% of the time. And if you fall behind you are quickly reprimanded and then fired if you don't improve.

I was very grateful for my time in Japan. But it was hard work. 16-18 hours most days and maybe one day off a week if we weren't crunching.

Modern SJW american devs would 41% themselves with a Japanese workload.

Japan is based, the part I sympathize with them is that all the jobs are near Tokyo making it a pain to live there due to high costs relative to their salaries. Elsewhere, the problem is living standards as food prices are high and to have a good kitchen, it’ll cost you a lot. Other than that, it’s fucking great but not for everyone as not anyone can like it there; severe difference in how homes are laid out than the west is.
