>finish game
>holy shit how can a game be so good, that was one of the best games I ever played!
>finish next game
>wow my mind is blown, definitely one of the best games I ever played!
>finish another game
>man what a masterpiece, easily one of my top ten
Does this happen to anyone else?
Finish game
Not in a row like that, but I felt this way about the OG kingdom hearts, dark souls, and streets of rage 4.
What games did you play?
>drop game
>drop game

Does this happen to anyone else?
Yeah. This year;
>Kingdom come deliverance
>Doom Eternal
>Xenoblade 1 remake
>Total war warhammer 2
Played them pretty much in a row and each is now a favorite.
>finish game
>holy shit how can a game be so good, that was one of the best games I ever played!
>look it up online
>everyone hated it
Yes, it's called liking videogames and not being a bitter contrarian cynic like every other retard in this shitheap.
Dark souls
No. I'm turning 30 this year and I've only found about 5 good games in my life.
In 2011 I went from Deus Human Revolution, to Driver: San Fransisco, to Sonic Generations to Dark Souls.
It was a pretty great couple of months
>start game, never finish it
>start game, never finish it
>start game, never finish it
Anyone else autistic
>DQ11
>Titanfall 2
>Outer Wilds
I am so glad I decided to play these.
>keep on playing games that have no real end and are just endless grind
>holy shit this game is amazing
>its in ea
>wont be able to play the full game for another year
>wont have the experience of playing it all from start to finish as a completed product
Fucking ULTRAKILL has spoiled me.
May as well have started with "Do you enjoy video games Zig Forums?"
When i go back and replay the indie games in my backlog, I definitely feel this.
>play FTL
>Wow this was damn good, and the modding scene is insane! I wanna come back to this later
>play Terraria
>wow, the update is really sweet, and the mods are coming too? Awesome, I'll put that in my backlog for later
>play Hollow knight
>wowzers I did not know that you could sequence break through that, so awesome
I pity the AAA games that are basically one-and-done deals that cost 60 dollars.
>finishing games
>Play FTL
>die to rebel flagship in five seconds after reaching it on easy mode by the skin of my teeth
>stop playing for 6 months again
wanna be my bf op?
Try playing FTL on Captain's Edition, where the flagship has all of its special quirks from hard mode, but they're all backported to easy and normal difficulties. Fortunately you have a ton of new toys to play with, like billions of weapons and unit abilities and ship configs.
Outrun 2006
Spec ops the line
Metal gear solid 1
Metal gear solid 2
Metal gear solid 3
Bayonetta
You and me and her (totono)
Raging Loop
Symphonic Rain
Dragon Quest XI
I didny really feel it for spec ops but it was still a decent game
I can't really remember the last game I finished and thought was amazing.
Uprising maybe?
>play game and it is amazing
>make a thread about it and request games like it
>everyone recommends good shit and helps you throughout the hardest sections of said game
yesterday was a good day to be on Zig Forums
I just started playing Banjo-Kazooie, shit's cash.
Why are you proud of having low standards?
Oh I should mention factorio I played it a bit before outrun, that was a real good one.
>not mindlessly consuming and liking everything is being a bitter contrarian cynic
user...
>tfw went from ds1 to sekiro to metroid prime to xenoblade DE to doom 2016 to now metroid prime 2 all this year
I thank covid for giving me so much time to finish my backlog
Maybe not that extreme, but I tend to not be as judgmental as most people here so I tend to like pretty much everything I play. I recently went through some of my backlog tho, and since those are all games with a certain pedigree it was a short period of back-to-back excellence.
>mfw going from Zelda Twilight Princess to Okami HD to Shadow of the Colossus
>mfw going from Banjo-Kazooie to BioShock to Sonic Generations
Backlog has it's benefits
It doesn't happen often, but sometimes I do come along a string of games I just really enjoy. Hasn't happened since 2017 though. Not to say I haven't enjoyed games since then. Just that this specific scenario hasn't happened since then. Though when I say "enjoy" I don't mean that I just mindlessly praise everything about the game. I think it's good to be critical of the games you do enjoy so you have a reference point for what you think could be done better or are able to keep an eye out for what might potentially be done worse in later entries.
