You fight enemies that primarily use magic. Superman gets slaughtered when magic is involved which is why Mxyzptlk is such a threat and the only reason Superman ever beats him is because of sheer luck, Mxyzptlk's hubris, and also his ego. I'm convinced someone like Constantine could beat Superman if it did come to a confrontation like that.
