they're not afraid to do some wacky shit

Based ruthenian

it's the racism

Japanese media uses the same handful of tropes across all genres.

where have you been the past decade?

Childhood is when you idolize 90s Japanese and American games
Adulthoos is when you idolize 90s Japanese and American games because they've been shit since

meant for

American games have never been good

So do American games.

1. close and connected urban infrastructure let's the talent share ideas in bars or restaurants
there are stories about famous developers meeting other famous developers at lunch time randomly and they talk about games or stuff they like
2. actual local game dev scene see stuff like comiket meanwhile we have pozzed shit like GDC doing talks about how can they indoctrinate players into their marxist agenda

Wrong.

you tried

from what I see

Janapese devs focus on a single gameplay mechanic and try to use it in various ways to try to make it as fun as they can.

American devs: Focus on telling a story or having an experience (akin to a movie sometimes) when they try to find a gameplay mechanic that suits best and go with it, if they need more they grab another one and just polish those mechanics, the problem is that the focus is in immersing the player in the story, the gameplay mechanic is just there because its a game.

that's how it feels to me. hence Japanese games can be quirky, weird gameplay, terrible or meh stories but amusing or fun gameplay, whereas western games, usually try to have good stories, full of set pieces but mediocre gameplay.

Wrong, they're only shit because of western game devs using current year identity politics as a distraction for shitty game design and anti-consumer decisions.

Uhh unique may be the wrong word to use, but fun is good.
It's because they either make 100% linear story games (JRPGs) or something resembling arcade games.
Western devs and players hate meaningless arcade gameplay. So they make these movie games with story but with boring point and shoot / press triangle when enemy lights up gameplay.

Gothic 2 is not japanese and it's the best game of all time, so I disagree

most of jap games are repetitive trash anyways

You have a horribly narrow taste in games if you really think that.

He doesn't think that, he's just a drone internet circlejerker >red white and blue bad!

they're all virgins and use their virgin autism to make decent video games

WTF

Centuries of isolation, followed by a forced entry onto the world stage, followed by becoming a great power, followed by a humiliating defeat in which it became a satellite state of the US. Plus a long history of not understanding the West. Pic related, George Washington along with the "Goddess of America"

No, American games are not good. America has great movies though.

It was "were" dumb zoomer

Repressive society.

dumbass

It's not just limited to games, their manga is also incredibly imaginative. I believe it's due to their unique case of ethnocultural homogenity and economic prosperity.

They've made good fps and rpgs. Can't make good melee combat to save their lives though. Except for that one game where you kick dudes into spikes

Late stage capitalism destroyed western games

High preference for novelty.
