Because of the ongoing myth that it has a good story/VA.

>myth
>random people off the street who could speak english so it would feel like normal people and not celebs

People prefer 2 because of the story, even though 3 is much scarier and has better enemy design.
t. someone who prefers 2

SH2 is unironically one of the first moviegames. This isn’t a bad thing.

I thought the disconnected VAs really added to the ethereal nature of SH2 (which is what you seem to be saying as well). Honestly thought James' VA did a pretty good job, especially the "I don't need you anymore" scene.

it's not even close to a movie game though
it just had well done pacing and was a adventure game
movie games really started around the ps3 and the first one i can think of is uncharted
>inb4 durrhurrr quick time events makes ur game a movie

a tragic romance is more intriguing than an inverse retread of the original story.

The cult plot is lame, that's why for me it's:
>2>1>3

Liberals ruined the game like with Sonic.

I like the third game more but I recommend the second game just because it is contained and has easier to understand themes.

the cult subplot of 1 and 3 is boring compared to 2 's setup

James is a good protagonist, the player, especially the men playing the game, which was the majority at the time, can easily connect with him and his sins:
>love of your life is sick
>you want to end her suffering
>at the same time, you feel abandoned by her
>you feel guilt for everything you did, even if it was subconsciously

Same reason why re2 is preferred to re3
Shit taste and nostalgia

The result is truly dogshit.

Man: Excuse me, I …
(The woman is caught off guard and lets out a cry. Then turns to see who has come upon her.)
Woman: Oh … I’m, I’m sorry. I –
Man: No, it’s okay. I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m kinda lost.
(The woman seems taking back by this comment.)
Woman: Looooooooooost?
Man: Yeah, I’m looking for Silent Hill. Is this the right way?
(The woman seem to be unsure of herself. She stutters on almost every word.)
Woman:Um, yeah … It’s hard to see with this fog, but there’s only the one road. You can’t miss it.
Man: Thanks.
Woman: But …
Man: Yes … ?
Woman: I think you’d better stay away. This…uh, this town. There’s something “wrong” with it. It’s kinda hard to explain, but…
Man: Is it dangerous?
Woman: Maybe…and it’s not just the fog either … it’s-
Man: Okay, I got it. I’ll be careful.
(The woman becomes agitated when James doesn’t seem to take her warning.)
Woman: I’m not lying.
Man: No, I believe you. It’s just … I guess I really don’t care if It’s dangerous or not. I’m going to town either way.
(The young woman’s tone changes again, this time to unbelief.)
Woman: But, why?
Man: I’m looking for … someone.
Woman: Who, who, who is it?
Man: Someone… very important to me. I’d do anything if I could be with her again.
Woman: Me too, I’m looking for my mama … I mean my mother. It’s been so long since I’ve seen her. I thought my father and brother Where here, but I can’t find them either … I’m sorry … it’s not your problem.
Man: No, I… I hope you find them.
Woman: Yeah, you too.

This shit reads like comedy and the stiff terrible delivery combined with the terrible dialogue turns it into a sitcom. Copying Kubrick's casting style of extras works if you're Kubrick, and if it's relegated to extras and not main characters. Writing like Lynch works if you're Lynch, and not a random slope

If you've seen anything by Lynch, you would know what that otherness is like when done well.

movies are cringe and gay, pops

So is SH lol
A survival horror game that is neither scary nor difficult to survive lol

>for video games to be good they have to compare to my movies
gay and lame

They should be good.

>Ripoff movies and TV shows.
>Get angry when people compare them to the movies and TV shows they rip off.
???

2 borrows too much from lost highway, kind of ruins it.

>you cannot reference pop culture

The twinpeaks atmosphere is way more comfy than the cultist nonsense.

you should already know the answer to that
it was core millennials' first silent hill

The plot 2 is the best and no one really cares about the cult stuff, it's not as interesting.

Lmfao.

You can... just be prepared when you do an absolute shite job of """referencing""" it, that people call your garbage out.

Because SH3 being a direct sequel to SH1 was forced on team silent (originally it was going to be in the style of SH2) as the only alternative to doing a rail shooter and even then a lot of the team was against doing it.

You continue to parrot the Zig Forums myth that Uncharted doesn't have gameplay because 3 was cut-scene heavy, when you could actually choose the correct answer of them starting in 2005 with Indigo Prophecy.

Should I play 2 if 1 didn't click for me?
I've stopped playing after I lowered the bridge.

cover based shooting is not real gameplay and never has been

no

SH3 kind of messes too much with the original premise and the lore so many people didn't like it.
I think overall was a really good approach aside from what I feel like it was a bad precedent which is giving the town powers outside of its "realm".
The locations are pretty cool as well, although I honestly don't know which one of the first 3 SH I like the most. They are all really good in their own ways.
